THIS WOMAN IS AWESOME! 104 (count 'em) years old and still going for it! Great attitude, great work ethic and a love for life - how can she possibly lose?
Oatmeal & prunes? Hell yes! I love oatmeal & eat it several days a week. Hard pass on the whisky :yuck: but everything in moderation if that's her thing - it works for her!

There's a 60ish woman at my gym who climbs up & down ropes like it's nothing - that's pretty inspiring if I must say. Anyway Miss Ida should help us all "get up & moving" on a daily basis.

as a bonus here's a song about not letting anything get you down. Enjoy! BTW The Black Keys better credit T-Model for shaping their sound & careers! Actually they do, so that's cool.

Checking up on everyone! Are you eating/drinking healthy? Losing fat? Getting stronger/going longer/etc? Are you staying motivated? Let's all get the year started right!
Personally, I injured myself about a month ago, but I'm healing up and am functioning at about 80 percent capability. But being 57 I'm eeeeeasing into going full-bore. :damnkids:
My cardio goal is running a 15:20 two mile with no gassing at the end. It's on every page of my fitness calendar to remind me to stay focused. 15:18 sucks for a 30 year old but is pretty good for a 57 year old, so it's a challenging but reasonable goal. I mix up the two mile running with one mile runs and incline walking so I work a variety of breathing patterns and muscles worked. My strength/muscular endurance goal is 15 chin-ups with perfect form. Weight consistently under 165 should come as side benefit of what is to follow:

CUTTING BACK ON UNHEALTHY SNACKING! :brood: It's not doing me any favors toward my fitness goals or general health. So I have to really kick myself in the ass about that! Swapping sweets for carrots and celery for my snacking should do it, but that's easier said than done.

So let's hear some thoughts of those trying to stay healthy!

Okay it's been six months and one pandemic since I updated this thread! I'm still not running my 15:18 two mile yet. :( That said I am running a 16:00 two mile without any "kick" in the last 200 meters or so/gassing. I just run a steady pace for the duration and shave a few seconds every time I do a two mile (once a week or so lately) and keep my breathing well under control. I recover better that way - hey I'm old ya know!:damnkids: I also do other cardio besides running to keep my old joints from taking too much of a beating. I can do 13 chin-ups with perfect form so I'm getting close to my goal at least! I can lift a 50 pound kettlebell overhead six times with my right hand and five times with my left - but for the rest of my "push" workout I start dropping the weight and keeping my reps higher. What's weird is I can do almost as much with my left arm as my right but only at the lighter weights. Thus I still need more strength work with the left side of my body but it's gradually catching up. My weight goal is on point generally averaging around 162 plus or minus a pound, so I can't complain about that.

The only downside to everything is waiting for the next shoe to drop on gym closings! :shakefist: If it closes I can still run in my neighborhood in the morning while it's still dark, but that's pretty dangerous.
I can't run after work because it's about 95 degrees then :whew: so that's not going to happen! Regardless I can always find adequate cardio options and train around the gym being closed since I do my weight training at home anyway.

But enough about my activities....I hope everyone is staying (or getting) healthy! This is not a good time to lose focus on your fitness - being fit might not prevent you from getting COVID but it will mitigate the effects and might even save your life! Obesity, high blood pressure, smoking, etc etc are huge factors in the COVID death rate. I don't think there's any argument on that.

Covid is dragging on waaaaaaaay longer than I would have guessed! :( If you're getting weak or fat don't give up...double down on your health & fitness efforts if only so you can have the satisfaction of mocking my fat old weak ass! :damnkids:

not to sound like a broken record but like the thread title says we all need to GET UP AND GET MOVING! COVID-19 quarantines and working from home/not working at all isn't helping the situation (no shit Sherlock) with our physical or mental health. So stay on top of it if you are physically able to. Try to move around while you are binge watching your favorite shows - if you can walk and chew gum at the same time you can do this. But don't just take my word for it, here is some professional advice! Also an inspirational song about optimism & tenacity as a bonus. Enjoy!

I feel Rick's pain! When I was in England for two years I was sick from various things, bronchitis being a typical malady. When I was in Germany for four years I was sick a lot too, with bronchitis & pneumonia a regular occurrence. Yada yada yada nowhere else have I lived where I got sick so frequently. I would like to know the science behind this, but I don't think there's a way to get to the bottom of it.
