What the fuck is wrong with Pakistan? I'm amazed nobody has made a great deal about the Pakistani government's despicable surrender of its own territory to the 'Pakistani Taliban'. Forget Iran, Iraq, Saudi Arabia and even Afghanistan, Pakistan's Swat Valley is where the next major terrorist threat will be born. In the past Pakistan has gone to war with the massively superior India at the drop of a hat and fought to the bitter end. Said it before, I'll say it again: There is no true 'government' of Pakistan. There is only the Pakistani army which holds together, through the threat of force, numerous tribes of Sunni Muslims. The lines on the map denoting a country are more a western ideal than objective reality.
That's why trusting Pakistan to help us get rid of the Taliban/find Bin Laden is a sick fucking joke. Pakistan as a nation (such as it is) apparently don't give a shit...so if America wants the Taliban gone (rightly so) we may as well set up shop there ourselves. The "war on terror" is pretty much a one-man show.

Preaching to the choir! I never, ever understood the "we think Bin Laden/Taliban/etc. are hiding out in Pakistan" whining. NO SHIT SHERLOCK! That's like me killing ants one-by-one as they crawl through my kitchen door. I can increase my efforts and pour all my resources into chasing these ants, or step outside and poison the ant hill. But the ant hill is two feet past the fence into my neighbors yard? I'll ask him once....then I'll tell him....then I'll poison his ant hill because "his" ants are affecting me.
A Taliban state being set up in Swat valley is nothing that couldn't be fixed by a heavy bombing session. For fuck sake this thing was made in 2001 for the purpose laying the smack down and putting the fear of God into Islamist scum bags, but never used... USE IT: It can be rolled out the back of a C-17.
