You even quoted my post where I quoted the part of the rules where Elwoods email address is just a couple of posts earlier to this.

Okay, so one has to go to the rules page and find a link in the word "here" (which doesn't show up all that clearly in every skin) in order to contact Elwood.

Here's a thought: Put that on the Forum page. Or would that make it too simple? You know, like most sites do: Have a "Contact Us" link.

In any event, once again, I did not contact Elwood during my ban. And I'm not the only one who's had difficulty finding the means to do so.

You did however contact me through a couple of WFers and I had Elwood contact you because clearly I should not be the person handling your ban terms, as well as the fact it is Elwood's purview alone under normal circumstances.

The silence is because it is summer and many of us enjoy the great outdoors rather than be here as much as usual. My relatively decent health, July 4th and July 13th being my wedding anniversary has meant less presence here. There is a thread in the shelter on the topic and it's ongoing if slow due to less staff traffic.

The rule and e-mail links are in the rules section under "Bans"...I must speculate that you did not even read the section since you have no clue what is there and I wonder why you bring up complaints that are not even accurate and continue with them when the facts are pointed out to you.

Perhaps we should consider an e-mail link in the mail sent to inform of a ban, but I also think simply taking the time to look it up is not a huge amount of work for someone to have to do....nor is elwood@wordforge.net particularly hard to memorize.

On the front page is a link that says "View Forum Leaders" click it and it leads to the entire staff and their e-mail links.

Maybe it would be easier, and maybe Elwood will decide to have a front page link.
At the same time his email address is in the rules twice including under the short section on warnings and bans and as I said earlier if someone has been banned it's probably worth their while to go and reread the rules anyway.

You would think that having that bit of info in the Frequently Asked Questions forum would be sufficient for most, that being the place designated for the answering of Frequently Asked Questions.

We may well have to resort to a 1-800 number and home visits to make sure people have their questions answered.

    No, just bad grammar.

I think the gist is understandable though. :P

I have the ultimate idea: Require everyone on the board who feels that the current setup is too difficult for them to use to give Kyle remote access to their computers! That way when things are unclear, he can take over their machine and surf Wordforge for them!

Can you give us a screen cap? Because I can't see it. Is it possible it's only there for staff?

As for your announcing that I contacted you, does Rule #5 allow that?

You might clarify that what I contacted you about had nothing to do with the ban.

Or I can post my side of the email exchange.

    Unless that's against Rule #5.

Tamar was mistaken, while you can still click on the "Forum Leaders" section while logged out it is pretty useless as the pm/email options are unavailable.

As for your other points, why is any of that relevant to this thread apart from trying to stir up trouble?

Honest to God, I do not see anything on the Forum page that says "Forum Leaders."

Edit: As for the other points, Tamar claims I emailed her RE: the ban. I did not. I emailed her about something else entirely.

It's at the bottom of the rooms list. Next to "Mark Forums Read"

Okay, thanks. I see it now. In Odelay (the only skin I can use without going blind) it's white letters against a blue frame. Not easy for me to find. I apologize for having amblyopia. I'd much rather have 20/20 vision, or at least a better ability to see contrast.

I stand corrected. I now know it is possible to email a member of the staff when one is banned.

Sounds to me like that link could be made a bit more prominent.

But I know from experience that even if it was put up in letters 600 pixels tall, blinking, with "Look at me!" arrows pointing to it, some folks still wouldn't see it. There's something about human psychology that causes us to not see things that are right in front of us . . . which might make a good Techforge topic. Hmmm.

Yeah. That's a good idea. Is there any way we could add a crudely drawn circle and arrow to the link on the front page to emphasize it?

Eh, I suppose I could float a DIV down there or something, but man, that seems like a lot of work.

While this might be true, wouldn't it be better to do something to make sure that it is very visible in all the skins that we use? Or maybe floating it to the top of the page, possibly just before the "log out" site?

Maybe Scorp could do up a new banner to put next to the logo: "Banned? Click Here!"

    Heheh...heheh... Banner. :diacanu:

If it makes certain folks have to choke on their own words, eat crow or humble pie or whatever you want to use as a phrase, wouldn't it be worth it?

Merely mentioning you contacted me is not an offense.

The point being if you found a way to contact me, you surely could have found a way to contact Elwood.
