It's not just the DUI. She was also caught multiple times for driving with a suspended license, failure to attend and complete mandatory alcohol abuse programs as a condition of her probation, various probation violations and practically lying in court that she didn't know her license was suspended when the paperwork was in her glove compartment!

She should get at least 23 months, not just 23 days.

She was caught multiple times or just the one? There are lots of people who get out of going to jail for way less than what she has done. 23 months in jail would be a vast waste of resources that could be used to catch and hold real criminals.

How about the probation violations then? Failure to complete the alcohol education program? You think she should just walk free?

I've preached in the jails and I know that many people were in the lock-up for doing less than she did. She deserves some jail time for practically thumbing her nose at the court and her probation. And for DUI, she's probably getting off very light.

I think the legal ground they got her on was driving drunk and violating probation.

I think part of it was also the attitude Hilton was projecting, as if she was too good for the law or for the court, or even for jail. After all, she is Paris Hilton! One of the Beautiful People! Only the Little People go to jail, not elites like her. No doubt she was carting around an attitude that she was above the law and judges just love to slap down people with an attitude like that. She tempted the man who held the gavel- and lost.

Ya, Paris did deserve to go to jail, but what is sad is how justice is so unevenly distributed in America.

And so He puts her in a special jail reserved for royalty and high class public servants? That is going to really show the world. A real judge would have thrown her in the same county jail as everyone else and let her live that life for a while. Now, If I was Paris' jailer, I'm sure we could work out an arrangement where she would get no calluses on her hands ;)

23 days in jail = relatively insignificant in the grand scheme of things

MTV Movie Awards = relatively insignificant in the grand scheme of things

Paris Hilton = relatively insignificant in the grand scheme of things

America's imbalanced justice system = relatively insignificant in the grand old party of things.

I shall now leave this thread.
