Is Pelosi trying to build her own air force? I mean seriously. I can understand having a handful of planes as long as it is for official government business (not junkets or going back home) but just how many are they going to buy?

 Look at the bright side: While they are zipping all over the world in their luxury jets, Cap and Trade will have made it too expensive for the Unwashed Masses to even put along at 5mph in their $45,000 Government Motors solar-powered government-subsidized hybrid

    1) The military decides to replace its aging transport planes used for, among other purposes, high security transport of government officials, with the current standard model that's been purchased numerous times in recent years and which is known to work well and meet needs.

    2) Congress didn't give the military any more planes than it asked for, but instead accelerated the purchase on two planes that were going to be purchased in short order anyway.

    3) Whiny bitches who don't question trillion dollar price tags for unnecessary military adventurism think this is some sort of scandal.

Is that about right, Diacanu? :diacanu:

Military expendature does not equate to congressional expendature in any way shape or form. Were it not for military expendature you'd likely be speaking Russian or Chinese these days.

And please, pull your head out if Dicky's ass, the lack of oxygen intake is becoming evident.

If you're not upset by Congress living according to substantially different standards than most Americans then you're part of the problem.

But-but...that's different! The eevil corporate executives are flying on private jets paid for by profits from sales to customers. Our congressmen are flying on private jets paid by American taxpayers.

The fuckers should all be dragged onto the Mall and hung from the lightposts.

I'm very surprised that it's tough to sell the idea of more expensive perks for Congress while ordinary people economize, and cut spending to save more.

I have a better idea. Why don't we have them all travel to Leavenworth for an all expense paid stay in jail. This way they can learn what should be happening to all of their corrupt asses. I'd pay for that with my taxes happily.

If they want to travel they should cram them in the back of a KC-135 and call it good.

It's both parties doing this, you dumbasses. Wake up and start protesting that CONGRESS did something stupid, not "teh only evil party teh democrats."

True, but that is hardly the issue. It's not both parties telling companies not to fly in private jets. :bailey:

I know. I was referring to the thread title.

I mean, :wtf it was only the DNC doing this? Seems to me that the OP has a few things to learn.

The problem is telling the people you need to be conservative and not waste, we're in a recession, followed up immediately by more out of control spending. The republicans are part of the problem despite the fact that they are the voice of reason. They should have acted conservatively when they had power but they didn't. The country responded by voting many of them out of office. Hopefully we'll get some fresh blood in there but I doubt it. I'm starting to think more like Marso everyday, the only thing that is going to change this mess will be some kind of uprising. I just don't think the uprising will ever come and instead we'll end up being just another middle class oppressed European-like nation with a socialist run welfare state.

Well you guys might, as for me... I'll move to an island somewhere, open up a bar and a surf shop and bang hot island chicks every night.

Sorry, you should've quit while you were ahead with your first post.

Small pointer for future reference: the party in power in Congress controls the agenda. The party in power initiated the appropriation increase from 1 jet to 3 super-jets, and the fleet increase by 8 planes.

The thread title was, I'm smug to report, precise and accurate.

And if you read the "OP" article you will find the report particularly balanced, complete with counter-arguments that say the request for more new jets ain't so bad. I even selected the left-wing WSJ to preempt any claim to bias.

Pick your fights more carefully, you got this one exactly wrong. Both parties can be pigs (your first post) - but this time the Jackasses -not the Elephants- are clearly the swine. The second sub-topic of the thread is that all of Congress lives by a set of different standards.

Don't come stomping into a thread of discussion without at least having read most of what has been said if you want to be taken seriously.

Bad news... you'll have to be able to grow a mustache to fill the roll of Tom Selleck.

Maybe the cowboy hat will be a good supplement for the 'stache though.

One thing that both the Bush presidency and the Obama presidency have in common is the fact that dissenters were/are called un-American. Was/is that acceptable? Or was/is it acceptable in one incidence and unacceptable in the other?
