Hell, for that much money diverted into the space program, we could possibly launch submarines into space via conveyor belts! Sadly, I think the idea would, uh, sink in Congress.

Ideologue logic: you agree with one thing X person said, therefore you must agree with all things X person said. :borg:

For years, I've been hearing people denouncing how much is spent on the U.S. military and demanding cuts. Interestingly enough virtually none of those same people actually specify WHAT they would cut and how much this would actually reduce the budget.

Except for cutting those really bad nuclear weapons which do not cost that much anyway.

And where have I ever suggested to someone that since they're a fan of, say, Reagan, that they must automatically agree with everything he ever said or did? Do tell, and be sure to include quotes.

    • Reagan = nothing?
    or
    • Captain X = nothing?

You decide. I'll go with either.

True, although I would argue that's true of calls for cuts in MANY areas, not just the military.

For what its worth, I would call for a complete phase out of agriculture subsidies by the U.S. federal govt. (most of it goes to agribusinesses anyway, not family farms).

I would also call for a complete phase out of federal spending on college education. The main effect has been to drive up costs so that it is even harder for many to go.
