Alright, well I cannot yet afford a domain (sad as that sounds), but I did manage to find a pretty great website building ... website. The free builder is fantastic as free builders go. There are some parts that are under construction, but each page is developed in a complete form, and all of the links work just fine. I've designed it as a sort of museum theme, and it's all fairly interactive. It's not just some galleries, I've utilized the Z axis and given the entire website a sense of space. There are some minor kinks to work out, but I've developed the site to function properly until I figure them out. Needless to say, it's very smooth and aesthetically pleasing. It will be in continuous development until I feel it's just right. Explore it! I need feedback on the pros and cons of the set up. http://www.wix.com/misterparadigm/pettytortureproductions
Hmm. 1 - Plays sound as soon as the page loads. Annoying. 2 - Makes me scroll sideways - BIG usability no-no. 3 - Links open in new windows without warning. Questionable. www.useit.com. Look that over for some hints.
I am on a 24 inch monitor, and the right side is cut off, so I only see up to the "World Prayr" button. Make the menu smaller. The music can be annoying, depending on the person's taste. I found it ok, but when sites have music, make SURE the OFF button is visible and very easy to find. Overall, the left side, with all the links to social media, could probably be a bit smaller so the "meat" of the site, your illustrations, have more room to be the main focus.
Where did you hear this from? I thought Flash was being pushed. You see a lot of tablets now mention they do Flash. And what is replacing Flash?
HTML5 is replacing flash. http://windows8beta.com/2011/09/win...ee-ie-10-browser-sounds-death-knell-for-flash
What $corp said, although I think I get where you were going with the comically hokey music. As for Flash, with Adobe bringing it to iOS devices now, it may not fade away as soon as I would have predicted a month ago.
Well, what I'm trying to figure out (one of the kinks mentioned) is how to get the page to load immediately to the center of the page. Some of them do and some of them don't, and I'm not sure how to get it to work for the Lobby. If I could fix that, I think Link Alley wouldn't be so obtrusive. Is the side-scroll not working on your computer? The site is set up with three rooms on each page, with the center being the only NECESSARY part, and primarily decorative items on the sides. That's the plan for it, anyway. I like the side-scroll because it gives the site a widescreen feel. I made up for it by keeping the vertical scroll out. The site is vertically compact. I like the idea of Link Alley because it gives a commonality to each page that will be slightly altered to match the theme of the page without having to screw up the basic functions of the center. I may take it out and link it from the center, making Link Alley it's own page, but I want to have decorative pieces for that space on each page before I do. Thanks for the comments, I appreciate it. I need to try to find a cleaner button for the music, because the only option I can find is an eye-sore.
Thanks. I can't find an option to offer a warning for the new windows, otherwise I'd have included them.
It's been updated a bit, but there's some work I still need to do to get each page to open the same way.
