I might get one more model built this week, or if I'm lazy, this will be my last for the year. Tamiya went nuts and gave us a 1/48 Messerschmitt with a full engine. This is out of the box, plus aftermarket seatbelts. The full designation would be Messerschmitt Bf-109G-6/R6/Trop, serving with 7./JG27 on Crete, Dec 1943. Let's break that down for fun: 'Bf'-109 because Willy Messerschmitt's design was originally a product of the Bayerische Flugzeugwerke, or Bavarian Aircraft Factory. Willy later bought the place, so 'Me'-109 is also acceptable for later models. Bf-109'G' because it was the 7th version of the plane. G-'6' because it was the 6th subtype of the G (called "Gustav") model. 'R6' refers to field modification #6, which is the 20mm underwing cannon gondolas. 'Trop' is of course short for 'tropical', which refers to the sand filter added to the supercharger air intake (sticking up from the side of the open cowl), for use in desert or Mediterranean climates. The unit designation breaks down to the 7th staffel (squadron) of Jagdgeshwader (fighter wing) 27.
hey Anc - did you lose power a few days ago? My daughter (in Marysville) said it was a bitch of a storm!
Unfortunately no. I would have had a golden opportunity to show my generator off to my wife (See; It’s not for nothing!). Instead all that I got was some bent rods on the Harbor Freight carport that is my backyard covered play area. :/
winter is just getting started - you still might get a freezing rain storm that causes a power outage....thoughts & prayers!
Year in review time again. I decided to put a dent in my figure kit stockpile this year. 14 total built, 8 of which were figgers. Only 2 planes this year, which is SO unlike me. Herman Munster has a companion kit, Grandpa Munster. I'll do him this year some time. Sinbad has an aftermarket companion, a resin Caroline Munro figure (and what a figure!). I'll get to her too. For the Ripley and Alien kits, I also have an aftermarket resin Colonial Marine. It's pretty crappy, but I figured I'd do the three of them up on a common base in a little diorama. Also TBD. Individual details hither: http://www.inpayne.com/models/models_history.html
Love that T2 HK, middle row to the right. All of it is awesome and win! On the HK, can you pivot the engines or are they fixed in one spot?
