like they say when I worked construction where you had to hustle or hit the road: there are always ten motherfuckers waiting to take your place. Slack off and see what happens.
If you're making 75 to 100K, odds are you are management. How many do you think are going to fire themselves?
This, this, and this fucking again. All I know is white dumbfuck shits float into management where they don't do a thing and just annoy the people actually working. Scott adams may be a crazy trump supporter, but the dilbert theory works. If you fuck up you are promoted out of areas you can damage shit if you are white. If you are a valuable hard working person who is important to getting your job done in an office, you will never be allowed to move on up by your supervisor. Your supervisor relies on you doing all the work because the other idiots don't. So when the promotion comes around they get rid of the dead weight and hope someone else decent comes along while you sit there forever a slave to doing the work. I do not know how many times I actually started to slow down and screw up and all of a sudden opportunities come along. I bust my ass and take on new responsibilities and I do not go anywhere. In my first career job my supervisor was not going to let me be gobbled up by the IT department because I was the most productive RMA and QC guy in the integration department. The only reason the IT department fought for me was my reputation and the reality that they could give me a lot more pay and still I wast 10-15k below market normal for a new hire in the position. The IT manager actually threatened to turn off the internet for the integration department if he did not let me go. It is so hard to let an idiot go because you have to pay unemployment in most areas even if they are fired for cause. The easiest thing is to just get rid of the problem and put them into someone else's budget. You never get rid of the reliable ones because they are the ones you need to keep things going. This is why I am not bothering going back into an office position unless the gutter suck for some reason. Seriously, I would pull my teeth and gum dick before doing another office slave job. It just gets to me to bust my ass doing hard work only to have the fucktard get a promotion because it is easier to get them out of the way. I have normally been fixing fuckwit's mistakes while doing my job and then some only to see fuckwit go somewhere aside from the unemployment line. That is so demoralizing and so angering. Especially today with tools that quantify your output for the purposes of micromanaging. I know how to read my stats, and I was always at the top of productivity. I am angry just thinking about it and I have not been in that area for years. I either want a job where I truly do not give a fuck and I will pace myself on a slow level, or I will bust my ass for my own profit in my own business.
TGOCH said "I just want to be treated with decency and not yelled at like a dog" and it led immediately to that angry rant.
"Struggling to find workers" doesn't mean deluded fools who think entry-level jobs are meant to support a family mobile plan, two car payments and a mortgage.
I moved into this town 22 years ago. Once per week or so, I'd go to Burger King in the morning for a quick breakfast and cup of coffee on the way to work. I would always go through the drive-thru. I began to notice that the same young lady was taking my money every time. She was still there, 22 years later, taking my money yesterday. Standing in the same window, doing the same job.
Either a lack of ambition, a lack of opportunity, or she just likes her job. It’s okay to like your job.
Oh, I agree completely. My comment was not meant to demean or belittle. If she's happy, good for her. I just found it curious. I've never known anyone to work in the fast food industry in one position for that long. A guy I went to high school with started at McDonald's at 16. He was a General Manager making $80k per year in 1990's US dollars by 25, District Manager with McDonald's Corporate by 35. Retired at 50. He bought three McDonald's franchises of his own after retirement. He just golfs and cashes checks.
Not really. If my manager makes 80K he still has to be drug tested along with everyone else, because the CEO (or other HMIC) is his boss and makes more than he does.
Most corporations test at the time of employment. Unlike the military, corporate America doesn't randomly choose a certain number of people to test every month. I've not been tested in 12 years.
Yeah, and you work for a company tied to the government. For the bulk of the civilian world, it’s only the rank-and-file employees who ever get drug tested and then usually only when you’re hired-on. If you’re in management you’re not even getting tested if you have an accident at work.
When I worked at Tim Hortons, the store manager spent most of her time working in the drive thru in that exact position. She had enough supervisors working in the daytime to delegate away most of her managerial responsibilities, and she enjoyed talking to people and giving timbits to dogs.
Uncle Albert only believes in the free market determining the value of labour when it doesn't help those working in jobs he looks down on.
