It's just a common theme when you see food lines, mass devastation, police beating people up, and someone will always respond "the US is looking more like China every day!" despite it having a long history in the US. It's like when something capitalist happens by capitalists under capitalism, and someone responds "this is the work of socialism!"
2020 was full of righties posting pictures with the caption "this is what Biden's America will look like," or "this is the future the Democrats want" even though the pictures were taken earlier that day in "Trumps America."
Exactly! Back in 2019 I'd be on Twitter and some dumbass would be like "this is Biden's America" and I would respond "who's the president right now?"
"Recognize" = sit quietly while you are informed of the burdens and sacrifices you're expected to gleefully embrace as a display of your moral purity.
"Here's some bad shit we did and why it was bad" Having it explained to you doesn't mean you forfeit the right to not feel bad about anything whites have done to anyone else. I don't feel too cut up about Vanilla Ice or UB40 appropriating black music. I recognize they exist. I mean, I still see Vanilla Ice's face in my nightmares. You can still go on thinking black folk have an equal shot in America. It's just most folk who AREN'T extreme Libertarian pastiches will see otherwise and CHOOSE to consider their behaviour and circumstances more carefully. And before you start that "indoctrination of kids" shit, I can't speak more than a few words of French. At school, I was recommended to take it at A-level (16-18 year level for Americans). If I can't retain a language, I doubt kids who don't want to are retaining social information.
About that, after we moved to a house to raise James in a nice neighborhood, we found out that that town is locally known as the hub for KKK activity in the area. Which would mean the teachers would be indoctrinating the students in far right ideals. Which may have been the case as James often speaks of his peers in some of the most condescending terms I've ever heard come out of the mouth of a teenager. But, whether through parenting or his own intelligence, he was able to see through the bullshit and ..., is actually further left than I am at times.
My point here is, parenting and the child him/herself have more impact on a child's world view than teachers.
I wondered if this was serious until I looked up the account and found this: While a true Trumper state rep could easily be that stupid, I don't think they would know the word "quartile."
Nope. As previously mentioned I'm fortunate enough to work at a company that really wants to try and address imbalances and embrace diversity. Doesn't mean we always get it right, but it does mean that we have some good stats like ~50% women, which for a game focused tech firm is well out of the ordinary. Not a single person at the company was hired over a more qualified alternative simply because of their race, gender, sexuality, or any other similar factor. I have never had to take on "burdens" or "sacrifices" for this.
