With a history degree you can work in a library, work in the park service, work as a paralegal, work in a museum, work on a political campaign, etc... If you go to grad school, you can do much more. You can also take education courses and the praxis exam and become a high school teacher or, you know, assistant football coach.
Okay. If a Liberal Arts degree isn't useless, what's the useless degree your meme was referencing to?
Well, yeah...it was funny. I just thought it was ironic that you posted it...because you're usually not one to make fun of yourself.
Great! I didn't have any student debt either because I have a rich family. Both of us chose to get worthless degrees and neither one of us is blaming anyone for our problems (easy for me to say. I don't have any financial problems.). Yay Us!
If someone takes on student loans, that’s a contract they freely agreed to. It’s a contract. I don’t see anyone bitching about any other loans that an eighteen year old can take on.
The only loan you can't default on is a student loan. People take out student loans with the expectation that the degree they're working toward will lead to gainful employment. If the economy slumps and the jobs aren't there, that's not their fault. Your elitism is showing.
I love FF railing against "useless" degrees when an Arts major in Sculpture would be pretty far down the fucking list but he'll start waving the 2nd in your face if you suggest tearing down a statue of a Klan member Confederate soldier.
