    Just for fun :bergman: :

    http://amgoa.org/Proposed-New-Jersey-Gun-Laws

Highlights include new magazine capacity restrictions, a .50 cal ban, a requirement to keep all guns unloaded and locked up in the home, and a penalty for not reporting a negligent discharge in your own home :wtf:.

Perhaps someone should point out the "shall not be infringed" part of the Second Amendment to the NJ legislature.

    Some things I noticed:
S1317 - retired cops can have hollowpoints - so why are they in more danger that they need hollow points versus Average Joe?
S1698 - airgun for unlawful activities? So......a criminal wants to bring a toy to a gunfight. Where is the downside to that again?
AR15 - for assault rifles -really? Somebody has a sense of humor. Also I "urge" Congress to kiss my ass.
A073 - keep all weapons unloaded and locked in the home, otherwise known as the "Hold up a minute Mister Criminal!" law/suicide law.
A2895 - gun buyback, also known as the "throw the bed wetting libs a bone" law that appeases the mentally disturbed and amuses the sane.

Actually, I'm hoping for a local gun buyback. Got some old crappy junkers handed down to me, some of which are seriously broken. Ya know, 100-year-old H&R .32s that originally cost a buck in the Sears catalog. Might as well make 50 bucks off them.

speaking of gun buys, my son bought a S&W 9 mil and when he visits this weekend I get to seeit, possibly shoot it time permitting. I'm a revolver fan, but it might be fun shooting a semi-auto. No, the gun is not registered - this is Georgia, who the hell registers a gun? Maybe a Ned Flanders type. He passed the background check, that's good enough.

Yep, the NJ legislature wants to pass a bunch of bills based on pure emotionalism or out of vindictiveness. None of these bills will do anything at all to address criminal behavior and with one exception will only serve to punish law abiding citizens. I do see a couple of sops thrown to the law abiding gun owners and a trojan horse. A2869 looks to be so benevolent, its not. It's simply crumbs being thrown at the masses. The trojan horse in all of those bills is A2777. It purports to give wider lattitude and permission to exercise a constitutional right. What it does is actually narrow the terms of where one may stop while driving with a firearm and will lead to more arrests. Statewide gun buy back in A2895? What a joke. First of all how many crimes will go unsolved? Besides 99% of the time these buybacks wind up getting inoperable pieces of junk. S1317 is a joke. "Hollow nose" ammunition? It's called a hollow point. In addition NJ great job. Yes, y'all knock your socks off banning ammunition that can reduce the chances of an innocent bystander from being stuck by an over penetrating round.

Keep on with that emotionalism. That legislature relies on facts about as much a the creationists do.

Ya know what, I give up. That state is a joke and these bills are an even bigger joke.

The question is what will Christie do? Does he have the balls to veto these bills and thus keep his presidential hopes alive? Does he continue on doing what he does and not give a damn about constitutional rights and pandering to those who get the vapors at the mere mention of a firearm. I would move if I lived in that state.

Here is the interesting thing. You're soon going to have states like TX and FL that recognize all rights and the states of the NE will become even bigger statist empires.

Fuck a bunch of gun laws. Gun laws were originally designed to keep guns out of the hands of blacks. So it makes sense that Dems and Libs love them, since these are the people that want to keep them on the plantation. Georgia doesn't play that - you want a gun and don't have a criminal record, buy one. You are a criminal and want a gun, go for it.......eventually a law abiding citizen will catch you in the act and kill you. More likely, one of your fellow criminals will kill you. Everybody wins! Bottom line is you have the right to self defense against those who are already armed and most likely dangerous.
Government doesn't get involved - oops, again no surprise libs are against free gun ownership.

I still can't wrap my pea-brain around magazine capacity. I'm not a math wizard, but one magazine of 30 rounds = 3 magazines of 10 rounds, unless it's a "metric system" thing. It takes about about two seconds to drop the used, and pop in the fresh magazine. If you're brave enough to get within two seconds travel time of the shooter, I doff my hat to you.

Remember the Calico .22 rifle? They used it as the stormtroopers' guns in Spaceballs. It had a 100-round helical-feed drum magazine, about the shape of a Pringles' can on the top of it. Every time I went to the range with it, I kept stopping after 10-15 rounds thinking I should be reloading.

Too bad I'm not willing to drop $650 on a .22, or I might consider actually getting one.

I think it was around $350 when I bought it. Of course I only had it about a year before the state of NJ banned it and I sold it to a gun show dealer. :garamet:

They're probably voting on the 10-round mag limit next week. Emails off the the gov and my senator.

You know what the wording was on the banana-clip ban in the 90s? "it is illegal to purchase, possess, or dispose of" a hi-capacity a magazine, Exactly what the fuck is a person supposed to do with them then!? :wtf:

Assuming that wording, the clear intent was to have them destroyed, not merely disposed of. No putting them in the trash. Of course just because the intent was pretty clear doesn't make the wording good.

I don't want to burst any "we really, really care" bubbles, but people can come and go freely in America. Thus if another state sells higher capacity magazines, you could purchase them there. Most people would be leery of selling a gun to somebody, but not ammo or magazines. Unless the laws of physics/mechanics are different in New Jersey, the weapon would function the same as in Georgia (for example). So to recap, what got accomplished? Somebody please draw a direct link to smaller capacity magazines lowering the gun death rate. Feel free to use circles/arrows/8 X 10 color glossies.

Non-gun-owner logic. Unfortunately the fuckers are in charge.

You can't circumsize gun grabbers......because there's no end to those pricks!
