Meanwhile, this morning in downtown Memphis at 10:00 AM CST, over 400 people from 86 countries became U.S. Citizens. :enty:

    Too bad for them.

I'd be interested in finding out how she feels she's been treated as less than human. Unless she's here illegally, in which case I could care less how she feels she's been treated.

Guess what, Thomas? You ARE a criminal and have been since 1989.

You rolls the dice and you takes your chances.

    No it wasn't.

You don't want reform, Mayela, you want amnesty. And you do have a problem with the law- you're a fucking criminal. And if you feel like a slave, why don't you go back where you came from? Nobody is stopping you.

As well there should be. INS is a real bitch.

Not our fault. Don't come here illegally, your family won't get separated.

Of course it has. It's not amnesty.

Because it made such a difference last time, eh? :rotfl:

Could it be because the voters are getting sick of this shit? Hmm.

Yeah, sucks when the law comes down on you, don't it? Suck it, mutherfuckers.

Boo fucking hoo. Brings a tear to me eye. Deport the kids with them- problem solved.

Illegal immigrants can suck my fat cock.

See, this is the ONE thing that I can empathize with illegals about. If a guy's up here busting his ass for $2:50 an hour, and sending half of that back to his family in Juarez, then how is he going to afford that? Why's it so expensive anyway? I realize that lawyers gotta get paid, but damn! A guy who I'm working with to get his greencard is at least a couple of years away from getting it and has already shelled out ten grand out of his own pocket.

My sentiment exactly, albeit for different agenda than Angelica is proposing I'm sure.

You're a criminal and you're fucking trash. Get out of my country.

1.) You deserve to be worried about raids, and 2.) it's your own damn fault for squeezing out kids while in the country illegally.

You had a problem with the law the instant you jumped that fence, you stupid bitch.

Maybe because a lot of them are here illegally? Christ. :bang:

Progress is progress, I suppose.

There IS a law. Several actually. It's called the legal process. Ever heard of it?

They have no right to demand anything!

Where does it say that immigration to the United States has to be affordable to everyone?

If everyone could afford a country club membership, there wouldn't be much reason to have one.

Their deal for $3500 and then $10,000 is a bargain compared to the legal process. And a lot less stressful, too.

They can shut up and leave if they hate it so much to be pampered.

    Well, I don't think that's right.

...doesn't give anybody the right to sneak into this, or any country and start demanding jack shit, but I don't think there should be a "disposable income" requirement for being legal.

Not our problem, hoss. The law is what it is, and the costs are what they are. We can change the law and change the costs, but an illegal alien is still an illegal alien.

No, it is our problem, since we're the ones who have an issue with them being here.

I just find whole argument that "it's the law" is silly. Does Albert have the same scruples for his precious marijuana, or you for the various gun control acts? Or do we scoff at such matters and hope we're never caught?

The law is the law, yes I agree. But the argument that it is automatically perfect because it is the law is absurd.

It's only comparable if the marijuana or the gun is stolen from someone else.

The last time I checked, very few people have had their identities or citizenship stolen from illegal aliens. The living at least.

Even if that's true, that illegals bypass the procedure that legals have to follow is theft in itself.

If something is too expensive for me to afford, that doesn't give me automatic justification to steal it.

That is the most absurd argument I've ever heard. I expect better from you, brother Midwesterner. Honestly.

At least make some point about civil services that aren't supported by income taxes, that I could buy (though one could argue that we are refusing to let them pay...).

    Why?

As I've said before every illegal immigrant that enters the country unimpeded is another slap in the face to those who migrate legally.

    How can it not be?

Theft can only occur with property.

Last time I checked, we had no inalienable rights to property, but we do with our citizenship (in terms of it being revoked). Logically, the two are irreconcilable.

I get what you're trying to say, but you're being overtly dramatic about it.

Property and citizenship are both possessions, and are easily comparable. Especially when you personally know people who cherish their legally acquired citizenship over any other single possession, in no small part because of the accomplishment it represents.

Illegal immigration is like stealing someone's trophy. It can't possibly mean as much to the thief as it did to the person who earned it.

Why you gotta bring me into it? When have I ever resorted to circular logic about the law? I don't derive righteousness from legality, and I object to illegal immigration for reasons not tied to the law. It's part of a larger, more complex subject involving labor/wage laws, social welfare benefits, public health, and border security.

But even viewed at the simplest level, I would say that no one has the unconditional right to move freely across international borders, no matter how badly they need it to improve their economic status, how high the demand for their cheap labor, or how much any nation's economy depends on it.

I've got to say, as someone who has actually gone through your immigration process, it's completely fucked up. It needs a complete overhaul.

However, fuck those people who came in illegally. Unless you were coming in to escape dreadful oppression, or something like that, I don't want to hear it. You came here to make money. You came here for the luxury. You should have gone through the same bullshit the rest of us did.
