    EDIT: To Tamar.

Or like being caught trespassing on Microsoft's Corporate Campus and demanding stock options!

My wife- a Canadian citizen who is a LEGAL alien in the US would agree. When she moved to the States to teach, her immigration experiences were...interesting.

But she played by the rules and still does. Thus, I have ZERO sympathy for these criminals who think they have a right to be here illegally. My wife played by the rules and they should too.

I've said it before and I'll say it again: no one has the right to be here illegally.

But the system's so incredibly fucked that seeing it as anything but an inevitability is insanity.

    Whatever. Minefields and fences.

Just because it might need fixing is no justification for the illegals to violate our immigration laws. If it needs to be fixed, the CITIZENS of the US will fix it, not these felons.

And yet, millions become citizens legally every year, so it can't be that bad, now, can it?

It's evident there are those who would go through the trouble, as shown twice in this very thread.

Laziness and theft are not the way to win the hearts and minds of the American public. I assure you that there is no racisim involved, just do what needs to be done legally.

It's kinda like the Mexican trucks and NAFDA, if their equipment meets the criteria set forth in the laws then by all means, more power to them. It's a free market and let the market weed out any not able to hack it.

Kills me man, I hate to see all of this fighting amongst Americans over this, trying to make it race. It isn't afaic, it's about camping out in my back yard and raiding my frige at night.

Those who try to make it about race do so to sidestep the bigger issues. It's the same old game- try to paint your opponents as "racists" in hopes to shut them up. But if Al Sharpton and Jesse Jackson can't win that game, these illegals and their sycophants can't either.

It ain't about race- it's about the law and about the millions of immigrants who went through the process legally. Why should these illegals be given any sort of special treatments, when millions before them did not?

Saw one of these protests on my way home from work. Next year, I think I'll make sure I have the INS's number in my cell phone.

Seeing the news about 200k+ illegals deported was heartwarming though.

This has probably already been said, but I'm gonna throw it out there anyways.

I can sum all of these protests up very easily and you may quote me on it.

THEL lasers and the Virtual Border Fence.

    Much cheaper.

And if you want to generate extra revenue, you hook the lasers up to the internet and charge admission!

This is why many on the 'pro-immigration' side say the current system is broken and needs massive reform.

People on the otherside keep bleating the mantra 'there is a legal way to get here, there is a legal way to get here, there is a legal way to get here' but the reality as you point out is that that is simply not true for the overwhelming majority of immigrants.

What we need is comprehensive immigration reform that provides a safe, legal, secure way to provide our economy with the labor it demands. Our current immigration regime is a monumental failure at this.

Given that the easiest path for citizenship is marriage, then...to quote from Heinlein's "Moon is a Harsh Mistress"...

"Send us hoors! T'ousands and t'ousands of hoors! I marry 'em all, you betcha!" :fun:

If the people of Mexico wanted an easier time getting into the United States, they shouldn't have killed Davy Crockett.

Why does America have these issues? The illegals in the UK never do anything like that, they try their best to stay hidden, the last thing they want is to make a public show of their illegal status.
The mindset of these people baffle me. Because they're living and working illegally, paying no taxes at all, they expect to be rewarded with citizenship? :wtf:
