Second DLC dropped. Turf Wars. Content adds another new enemy type - mooks with powered shields AND jetpacks. These guys can be prone to the same "slide under 'em and kick 'em from behind" tactic but their shield hurts to punch it, unlike the riot shield guys, AND they can do a charge move that might also EMP your gadgets. Oh, and more Screwball. That girl needs to use her adoring fans for some M rated action, insteada messing about with damn challenge tokens, y'know?
Final DLC - Silver Linings - is out. I'm only partway through but it's upped the ante with the fights. You've now got brutes and chaingun heavies wearing Sable armor, plus the shield and whip goons from before. I've survived some fights by the skin of my teeth on Friendly level, usually by swinging away from the crowd and picking off a few stragglers to get enough Focus to heal up a bit. As the name suggests, Silver Sable is back looking for the tech Hammerhead stole from her. She's not too fussed about collateral damage either, which puts her back at odds with Spidey at least initially - their rooftop fight was a bastard. She doesn't do much damage with her kicks but getting openings on her is pretty tough - she has a mini-wrist shield that deflects web gadgets and thrown items, at least once you've hit her with them the first time. She dodges attacks like the Demon sword guys in the main campaign too. The Silver vs Hammerhead convoy vs Spidey bit is annoying if you hated the "web up Black Cat to slow her down" bit in The Heist or the drone challenges in the main game. Hammerhead just made his reappearance and he has added some upgrades following the end of Turf Wars, so he's not gonna be easy to take out. Oh, and Peter made some webshooters for Miles! So whether he'll show up last minute or just be teased for later is a valid question. Peter really shouldn't need Miles to point out that they don't weigh the same and so the shooters need tweaking to suit Miles though... the dialogue just prior to that already established that Miles is smart, they didn't need to dumb Peter down.
I finally splurged and got this on Christmas... I have to say that after 10-15 hours, this is my FAVORITE iteration of SpiderMan. EVER! Comics, movies, cartoons... There has never been a better version/story of this character, IMHO. Can't wait to get home and get back into it. This will be a Sony exclusive... and I'm hoping for an IronMan exclusive on Xbox one day. I do know that Crystal Dynamics (Tomb Raider developers) are working on an Avengers game that will be multi-platform.
What could it be? Might just be the Future Foundation suit but hoping for a Spidey/FF team-up, or even just a Spidey/Torch one. DenOfGeek thinks it could be the Bag-Man suit, or adding the Baxter Building into the game.
Haven't seen them in game as been tied up with RDR2, but apparently it was both the Bag-Man and Future Foundation suits. Good - I like the Foundation design and nice to have another bright colour suit that isn't just red. I love the Secret Wars suit but it's not a "heroic" look, y'know?
Will there be any more DLC for this game? The difficulty spiked up in the Silver Linings Missions but I still thoroughly enjoyed it.
So, apparently Marvel initially vetoed the character death in the main story, but went back on it when they saw how good the game was.
What's the consensus on the DLC? I haven't picked up this game since I beat it months ago, but I've been meaning to try the DLC. Is it worth buying all or some of it now? Wait for it to go down in price?
I went for the bundle rather than individual elements. It's worth it IMHO, the new story elements are great if a bit short, but it pays off.
Some of the fights, yeah. And the Screwball stuff is lazy as hell (let's reskin the Taskmaster missions and make them even MORE annoying!). But I thought the story was OK, especially the police raid at the start of Turf Wars and the events following from it.
