This is the first I've heard of Dr. Aruna Khilanani, but on the surface, she's an interesting conundrum: an educated black female who apparently hates liberals.

I have a brother that is just less than 2 years older than I am. Most of my childhood was spent dodging his fists. I spent most of my teen years fantasizing about all the ways I would hurt him back. I way over that now. I came to terms with it while still in my 20s. I’m pretty psychologically healthy, personally, and am very liberal. old fella, you have lost your fucking mind if you think this means what I think you think it means. And, as a psychiatrist, I’d think she’d be aware falling into Freud’s trap of using his patients as test subjects for defining “psychologically healthy”

I’m certain this woman did not endure discrimination from only one person. Most likely 80/20 percent of the white people she had ever had contact with. But, even if not 80/20, we all know that the person who speaks loudest is heard. So, even if only 20% of white people were racist to her, those 20% were screaming while the other 80% were ok with, or didn’t want to disrupt the status quo. So … in her mind, sure, all white people. The point is, when someone is abused - physically, emotionally, sexually, or even verbally, victims want to fight back. And when that abuse is continuous, the desire for retribution intensifies. This has been studied and recognized in mice. It’s way past time human stopped holding other humans to higher standards.
Yes. And that's what makes her a racist. Not a single good white person, according to her. I'd probably take that with more understanding if it wasn't coming from someone who attended Michigan, University of Chicago, NYU, Cornell, and Columbia, who is invited to give guest lectures at Yale. Clearly her path to professional accreditation was not impaired by her race or sex. She is the 'elite', and clearly has some level of privilege that most people in the US don't. And evidently the abuse she specifically described came from her psychotherapist who was concerned about psychosis, according to her. Who then goes on to talk about feeling justified for killing people based on their skin color, and stating that it would be a good thing, and that all white people are bad. When you are saying the same shit as mass murderers like Dylan Roof, you probably should be aware that others might be concerned about your comments.
I'm not saying she shouldn't have phrased her frustration the way she did. I'm saying this isn't a racist rant. It's a frustration rant. But, ... sure, you don't like the way she says what she says so she's wrong.
Because the frustration is all I hear. You may be right. She could be racist. But, if she is, what do you suppose we do? I mean, oldfella and forbin are racists, but we let them live.
A white guy who gets mugged and shouts out how blacks are criminals is also a racist. I'd say frustration might be appropriate if she publicly apologized, and then my POV would be that she said racist things, but may not be a racist. But she hasn't, indeed is calling out Yale for taking down her speech from public consumption. What to do? Call her out for being a racist. That's all. But we've got a decent amount of folks in this country that won't do that because they believe that her comments are justified. Equality is holding people to the same standard. You'd think that would be something that most people could agree on, but that standard is changing. It's now equity - and they of course get to decide where the equity lays. I'll always support equality, but I'm becoming cautious of the later camp.
Yes, equality is what we should all strive for. However, as things are today .... Let me repeat that, as things are today, with race relations as they are, period, full stop, June 7 2021 c.e., united states, planet Earth, where 80%(+/-) of the population is white and 20% of them actively engage in racist activity - even if that only includes being in a position to add or deny a person a thing and the decision to add or deny that thing is based on race - but the other 80% refuse to say/do anything about it, then the frustration engulfs everyone. Yes. It's not "right", but it's the human thing to do. Also, as this person appears to be a public figure, I agree an apology is necessary - unless, she doesn't have any white clients anyway.
