Since T'Bonz specifically requested yesterday that KIRK1ADM not address her by "Bonnie," a variation on her RL name, and he has persisted in calling her "Bonnie" here almost a day later, may those of us who know his RL name address him by that name from now on?

Ordinarily I'd ask this question in the Help Desk, but that would violate the rule about posting something from a subscription-only forum, so I'm posting it here instead.

I already know the answer, but since it took nearly a week for Tamar to crack down on KIRK for posting a quote of mine from the Blue Room on TK, I thought I'd set things rolling.

Also, since the Gray Room is supposed to be about other websites, would it be possible to split anything in this thread not pertinent to TNZ and move it somewhere else?

After all, the stated purpose of the Gray Room is to
"Discuss other BBS' here. Moderated lightly, but keep grudges on topic."

Shoes' thread has, for the past several days, been diverted from any discussion of TNZ into KIRK1ADM's personal grudge against humanity. Surely there must be a more appropriate forum for that?

    Sure.

    Why didn't you?

That's stupid. Did you make that rule up just now?

Then why did you start a thread? Oh that's right, to call attention to yourself. Of course. Trolling 101.

Good thing you posted it in the Gray Room and not in the HD or via PM to Elwood or something. You're a bright one! :techman:

Why? Would you like more people to see it in the Red Room? Ego not getting enough traffic?

Why don't you just mod it then?

Crammed somewhere deep up your ass for instance?
    I disagree. :bergman:

Er, Facey, with what exactly do you disagree? That there aren't room-specific moderators any more? Because such is the case. That garamet hasn't raised a good point? Matter of opinion, IMHO she has. That it won't be discussed? It already is being.
    Do explain, dear child.

    edit, Hmmm, it disappeared... :calli:

Oh are you talking about the placeholder that I used and then deleted to thwart that ABAB rule? Yeah, I set my rep default to "Disagree". Sorry.

Oh, he's just disagreeing for the sake of disagreeing. He likes to neg-rep me for no reason except that it's his sole talent, and he needs to stay in practice.

This is only about you if you feel you're above Wordforge regulations.

    Do you?

Now, let's see if you can reply without using the words "cunt", "liar" or "lying."

Is *that* the language you've been posting in?

Sorry, neither Babelfish nor Google Translate has a function to translate from English to "skank" or "skank" to English.

Must be an obscure dialect. Are there websites, or perhaps a Berlitz course where the rest of us can learn "skank"?

It might explain why we've been considering your posts so incoherent all this time.

The only thing I can observe, having taken a few linguistics courses, is that this is a language that does not use punctuation.

So you start this thread to ostensibly complain about the content of threads in the Gray Room (ironically through an HD style thread) and then this thread devolves into more of the same garamet v. K1A mudslinging? I bet you still think you're better than him, huh?

No. I started this thread to question his using T'Bonz RL name after she specifically asked him not to.

    Do try to keep up.

One of the mods is weighing in right here to say to keep things on topic. ;)

As it is the particulars of the rule are being discussed at the moment, so there will be an answer at some point.

I don't understand the issue. "Bon" is part of her internet name T'Bonz. "Bonnie" is a variant of that. If "KIRK1ADM" is his real name, feel free to call him Kirky or Admie. If it's not his real name, and he hasn't made his real name public, calling him by his real name is an issue of privacy.

And should we start calling you Margie or Maggie?

Of course, this opens a wider can of worms. What if, as a journalist, I write a piece about forum trolls — and identify some of the individuals on one of my Web sites? What if I were to speak to their friends, co-workers, etc., to get a sense of the dichotomy of RL/Internet behavior? Obviously, I wouldn't be posting that data here, but it would take very little effort to connect my screen name to my actual name and a bevy of my Websites, and with the effect of spreading that data to the readers here.

Would that result in an immediate ban for me?

I'm not saying I'm going to do that, but the idea has been sparking around in my head for a few days — and it seems like an interesting subject.

She asked that he use "Bon" rather than "Bonnie," if he felt compelled to use anything other than T'Bonz. I suppose it's better than the obscenities he characteristically uses when addressing her, but she asked for a courtesy and he disregarded her request.

Now, obviously I have no intention of calling him by his RL name.

It's just that most people, when told something they've said bothers another poster, have the courtesy to respect that poster's request.

But sometimes the very few, very reasonable rules which have been set for hidden fora need to be clarified for those who are incapable of simple courtesy.

In comparison to the usual tenor of KIRK1ADM's posts, this is a mild behavior, but it bears noting, IMO, because now that it's been moved to the Help Desk, it exposes a flaw in the system by revealing something that was stated in a subscription-only forum. That's a problem that perhaps needs to be solved before anyone else takes advantage of it.

Others have called me "Margaret." If you'd like to do so as well, that's fine with me.

As I said, the specifics of the rules are still being discussed but I would just like to clarify one thing here that the information is not from a hidden forum. The article is discussed (with T'Bonz posting in the thread) in both Media Central here, and the Trek XI forum at TrekBBS. That isn't to say anything about how that influences the rules, just that the issue here isn't anything to do with Wordforge hidden forum policy.

But T'Bonz' request, which I linked to in the OP, was made in the Gray Room.
