Is there a policy about posting things to intentionally try to get other posters in trouble at work? I sort of assumed there was, but I thought I should clarify if that was actually the case or not.

For the record, I'm not talking about threads or links clearly marked as NSFW, or posting rude things in plain text. This is in reference to posters inserting giant flashing swastika images into their posts without warning. I don't think anyone has coworkers that wouldn't be concerned about that.

    Just curious.

Didn't someone try to get Bear/Listkeeper in trouble with his job, and didn't that lead to punishment?

    I seem to recall that...

First they came for the White Room, and I didn't say anything.

Then they came for the NSFW links, and I didn't say anything.

Now they are coming for my swastikas and pictures of the third reich. :calli:

    These are the rules:

    http://wordforge.net/faq.php?faq=wordforge#faq_therules

For what it's worth, the Red Room has always been sort of a "use your own common sense when browsing" forum because the rules are so lax.

Don't browse the Red Room from work if you are afraid that something from the Red Room might get you in trouble.

Well, if RR is gonna be off-limits to the workplace, why even bother with "NSFW"? Let's just let it be White room.

I don't know what you could post to "get someone in trouble" that isn't already covered by the no obscenities/graphic violence rule that CD quoted above.

I think there was a rule when Cass ran the board, but that was because of server location.

Although I might have dreamt that.....

Because EVERY workplace there is gets uppity about people looking at porn on the job.

Not every workplace gets uppity when someone views a page that has the word "tits" on it somewhere.

I guess there's no value in striking a common-sense balance, to you, is there?

Either forbid everything or allow everything?

I could do without giant fucking swastikas on my screen, even if they were just spoilered, but expecting the slightest bit of courtesy from anyone here is imposing some kind of horrific fucking oppression.

Why is it that people have to put words in my mouth to feel like winners?

Argue against what I actually say, and you disagree with, this "scoring points", shit is worthless emotion based rubbish, and wastes time.

Or, do you people get off on wasting my time having to dismantle falsehood after falsehood?
    Is that how this works?

I think since this is the HELP DESK, it's better to leave the pissing match out of it.

    Your question was,

    and the answer was:

Is that answer satisfying to you, or do you think we need to explore the topic more?

Personally, I'd be uncomfortable if we banned all swastikas from posts. For example, we could be talking about a historical event, and the pictures happen to have Nazis in them. If your workplace will give you trouble for even that, then maybe you should not be surfing WF at work.

I also think NSFW images should be okay, so long as they are spoilered behind a NSFW tag. If your workplace disapproves of porn and you click it anyways, then you're an idiot.

I just thought this was kinda funny. 14th doctor submitted a thread and 14 minutes ago was the last of 14 responses.

Yea ... Kurt Cobain was talking about me when he sang "I wish I were like you, easily amused".

No one is suggesting banning relevant images of things like swastikas. It's when people are posting large images of things like swastikas for the sole purpose of causing trouble for other people posting from work that I have a concern. I'm fine being trolled, but don't fuck around with my job, you know?

As for NSFW images, it's been established.for a while that they need to be links, as spoilered images still load in your browser.

And yet another attempt to turn the Red Room into the TNZ that caused the exodus starts.

Some of you guys go around picking fights with Sokar in nearly every damn thread but then complain when he posts a picture?

I've really no sympathy for you.

    Do one of two things:

#1 Don't look at work. If Nazi symbols can get you in trouble then certainly all that almost porn tit pictures can.

#2 Do what I do: Turn off images, signatures, and avatars.

That's what I used to do at work, if you really have to be careful with your workplace then just plain don't visit or do this to make sure nothing is loaded.

I disable Avs, images, and signatures. Have done so for years. Started due to work viewing. Can't view at work anymore...yet I'm not compelled to change it.

Isn't that what you were really trying to say?

This is why I say that Sokar brings balance to the Force. He gives it back as good as you guys give it to him. Whenever he one-ups any of you, the whining starts.

If you can't handle it, give TNZ a whirl. You'll fit right in.

Honestly, I think Sokar's and evenflow's rep should be restored to zero, rather than max red, or even restored to their previous levels. The max red just took away his ability to fight back and defend himself.

    Maybe.

Someone once told me a long time ago that trolling via neg reps only was the laziest of trolls. Since the rep annihilation pact, I've found that I can stir the pudding with alot more people and less effort if I just take my trolls into posts instead of just dropping negs.

Like they say - be careful what you wish for. You might get it.

And posting large images that can cause trouble for posters viewing the forum from work, that's "stirring the pudding" to you? I wasn't the only one that had a problem with this, you know. UA and Anna both agreed with me when I mentioned it could be bad for people posting from work.

I don't care what else you or apostle do in the Red Room, but when you intentionally post things knowing they could create problems for people in real life, that's going too far.

If Lanzman wants to make the entire board NSFW, that's his choice. But until then, couldn't we at least try to not intentionally cause problems for each other in real life?

Seems like basic decency to me.

I have nothing to add, I'm just quoting this for posterity.

Okay, I'll add that trolling with the intention of causing trouble for people in real life should probably count as "extreme trolling," but that should be self-evident.
