RBG dead Obit Robert "Bobby" Gonzales, dead at 57. In other RBG related news, Politico "reporter" asks Justice Ruth Ginsburg admirers to reflect on dying a day early in solidarity with liberals. link Personally I wish only the best health for Justice Ginsburg. Just wrong on so many levels. Even JMS, Babylon 5's creator, determined the life-transferring tech (invented for his universe, but it's a worn sci-fi plot device) should be locked away in a hangar-sized warehouse with some ex-nazi memorabilia. But maybe Journalist Simon has a point - if we actually had an Energy Transfer Device, would a devout pro-abortionist RBG-worshipper change their mind, and advocate keeping at least some fetuses alive so they could strap RBG down and suck the life from the newborns to help keep her fetus-destroying policies in place a few years longer (strapped down because presumably Ms. Ginsburg would be horrified of the idea of )?
That's an entirely valid point though every time it comes up (for any issue on any side of your politics).
Let's all contemplate how nasty, spiteful, and mean-spirited the regressive left is while we wish for the death of an elderly woman just because it would cause pain for those we hate.
No one wished it or even approved of it. Not only that, the sick joke only ever expressed desire to prolong the Justice's life. Outside of those simpatico with a bit of twisted humor, Bailey's the only one that addressed the topic without emotion, and raised an excellent point. Congress has a job, and relying on the top court is a poor way to effect policy. It might be to party advantage for a time, but eventually the positions will be reversed. The rest of youz need a proctological exam to find whatever's inserted up your butts.
^part of the timing of why the joke might work. But then, her working from home is also what prompted that ridiculous question [would you give a day of your life to save our cherished X?] by the retired guy from Politco in the first place.
@Tuttle: That's Notorious to you. (Now watch him get all upsetted because, yanno, as soon as he got negative reactions he claimed it was a "joke.")
On a more serious note there has been communication to the White House either from RBG or her family and the White House is starting to quietly go through the process of getting ready for another nomination. She will either retire at the end of this term or she knows she's at the end of the road and like she said she'd stop when she ran out of steam. "I will retire when it's time. And when is it time? When I can't do the job full steam." Missing part of a lung due to cancer, fractured ribs, eighty-five and already frail. She won't be on the court next year.
She may not make it another week or she may go another 5 years. Who can say? But given the circumstances--her age, health, and absence--it's reasonable to begin considering her replacement.
It's now reported that she will miss next week as well. I think things are worse for her than the public has been told. You get to a point where your body just gives out. I've seen it happen to my family members that are the same age as her. She's had multiple cancer treatments over the years and now it was in her lungs and it was only caught because she broke her ribs? She has cancer. She has other medical issues. Forget retiring, I'd be surprised if she makes it to next year alive.
great that the cancer is gone but the toll fighting cancer took on her body might be the real problem at her age! Then again, old people are tougher than a two dollar steak so you never know!
