A few minutes ago I was seeing three different buttons for like, comment, and rep, which seemed excessive, so I'm definitely a fan of it being cut down to two now. I wonder, should "like" just be removed? Also, minor tech note, on Odelay in the mobile version at least, the new buttons are plain text and the built-in buttons have a ... button thingy around them.
Yeah, I don't know how to add that background gradient button in Odelay. It's the only theme to have that kind of... thing, and I don't know from whence it comes, though I will dig around and find out. Also, it looks like the alert system works, as I got a notice that tafkats' test rep alerted me.
No more commenting on your own posts, no more multiple comments on the same post… I have to say I liked it better the way it was last night.
In that case, you guys will have to talk to Anc and see how he and the other guys want it setup. You've seen both options, and you'll have to decide. I won't have both. That will fuck around with the software too much.
I would like the reputation with comments as the only option, getting rid of like and shelving the comments as a sub discussion variant. But (and it's a big but), only if we can see the rep+comments in the thread.
Neg reps obvisouly weren't a good idea, but a neutral/zero rep that shows up as disagreement was useful for quickly communicating a position in debate. Also, I don't see a reason for ABAB in this setup. gul would have received a rep instead of a like if I could have given him one for the post directly above, because I agree with his preference precisely.
My preference is to get rid of everything and go back to just the basic "like" button. But, I admit it's for purely selfish reasons. First, I felt like it made me and other people post more. Secondly, XF's "Like" feature worked and showed up in Tapatalk. This new thing does not. So, I'm losing out on another feature.
I'm currently working with two rep systems. One of them has the comments listed underneath the post, the other one has the comments available by clicking the reputation button.
Um, @John? While you're tweaking stuff, I think we need the limit on a comment's length to be a little bit longer. Give us two tweets per comment, at least. http://wordforge.net/index.php?posts/2557423/
I've increased the scroll tolerance to 5, but the comment length is still no more than 75 characters. I would say that anything larger than that, and it would be better to post. If you need four 75 character comments, then posting is probably the better choice. WF is increasingly used by mobile devices, and I have to take that into account.
Rep Comments suck and should be removed. Post something instead. Plus it doesn't look right. Messes up the page. You've got the silly Comment word then the report button. And as you can see it's possible to leave more then one comment..... If it can't at minimum look like the old board rep then comments function should be tossed.
Rep and Post comments have been removed. It has been found that they weren't integrating into the software as well as we had hoped. For the near future, we will be sticking with the "Like" system.
Thanks for giving it the good fight, @John. Props also to @Tamar Garish for tracking down the possible solution, even though ultimately it didn't work.
