Rep policy change

I say we set everyone to max red and me to max green and we can see how long it takes each person to dig out of the hole.

Can we make it so we just flip a setting and people will stop rep whining??

One I'm not going to flip, and then change back to the way it is, only to have people whine that "nobody repped me in the intervening time and it's just so unfair and it should be set so anyone can rep no matter what and omygosh my panties are twisted sooooo hard...".

I'm not in any way whatsoever suggesting the flip, just noting that "at 0, nobody can rep" is not entirely accurate and is not really responsive to the silly hypothetical at issue. It would be an easy change to make if there were reason to make it, and if Lanzman wanted "to set all rep back to 0 and then limit everyone to, I dunno, three reps per day or something like that" he could do so easily without breaking rep. I really don't know why you'd take anything in this thread as a serious suggestion for changes to the rep system.

Can you set rep so that when I click it, the recipient hits himself? Because I want to be able to sit here, click, and go "Why are you hitting yourself?"

The only change I would make is to implement Volpone's idea of a rep bomb.

Naah, I don't like that idea too much. No, realistically it would be something like set everyone's rep to some arbitrary low number - ten, like O2C suggests, or something like that - then dialing it back to ten or twelve reps per day. Make you guys work for it again. And maybe track the repwanking parties, out some duals, see who really thinks it's a toy and who thinks it's SERIOUS BIDNESS!!!

What the fuck is this shit? When I suggested resetting rep everyone was vehemently against it and now people actually want it?

That would be cool. But, add the rollover rep and give that a max and then it drops off after ... like a month or so ...

that would be fun, too. We can rotate. Once someone works his or her way out of the red, then it's someone else's turn to be max green and everyone else is max red.
