Set everybody's rep to 0 every New Year's Day. This will encourage more contribution and, being on New Year's Day, will kick off a celebratory New Year rep thread.

Bah... why? Rep is fun, but rather pointless.

I know that I take great amusement from it.

If it's pointless, then you shouldn't care whether or not this happens.

I do care. So if you believe it is pointless, then the implementation of action on this matter ought to be more likely to be in a manner that satisfies my request.

I still think we should have rollover rep.

Hey, Ramen. Are you taking pictures of the women you're holding hostage and forcing them to wear that stuff?

    :tactfulsilence:

While more contribution is always encouraged there's no reason to think an annual rep reset would help make that happen.

Yeah, might be interesting. The repwanking circles that snapped into existence on 02 January would be a handy way of exposing duals.

[EDIT to Vignette]^Actually, every time the rep system has been [-]jacked with[/-] adjusted it ended badly.

When it comes to rep the best advice is always to leave it alone.

Don't think my rep could go as high as 0.

    :soma:

It would also give three people a stroke if it did ;)

I'm afraid this will make rep less meaningful, and that I will get less attention this way. :( After all, rep is measured in absolute value.

If rep is pointless, I fail to see how it would make it less meaningful.

Also, you overestimate the attention you receive. :bailey:

I'm actually okay with the max red option.

It would amuse me to set all rep back to 0 and then limit everyone to, I dunno, three reps per day or something like that.

    Gad, I'm evil. :ramen:

Isn't whether posters with non-positive rep can give rep a setting you can just flip?
