It's not like that would ever happen, so don't worry about it.

I don't remember the last poll be overwhelming. I thought the change it and don't care almost equaled the 'leave it be.' Which is pretty big considering people are naturally change adverse.

Don't care is don't care...you can't just add it to "wants change" to pad the number.

And even doing so..."Don't want change" was still more than both combined. I'd say that is a pretty solid message to leave it alone by the majority.

A slight majority of people that voted selected the keep it as it is option. An almost equal amount of people who voted chose either don't care or want a change.

Doesn't sound like there will be some overwhelming backlash if Lanz were to do what he has stated he wants to do and just end teh Rep Drama once and for all.

Plus it'd have the added benefit of returning Rep to its intended function, giving a quick way to agree or disagree. Right now it's only used as the former as people don't want to seem like they are attacking someone for disagreeing.

We should change it so the amount of rep a person gives is dependent on how much rep they have. It worked great for TK!

    Oh.

    Leave it alone.

It works just fine the way it is.

Oh, having the Fed essentially print more rep and devalue the Currency Of Souls would be pretty damn funny.

Plus I could make some money by having you mail in all your loose gold and I give you rep for it. :$:

I don't know, I just figured that if someone has turned off their rep so as no to be either green or red, that they should only be able to give out gray, neutral reps, like someone who's dipped into the red.

^It's not that one's rep is disabled, it's that it is hidden. Even if someone's rep is hidden, any positive or negative rep points they receive still affect their total rep. They can still take whatever they "dish out" but only they will know how much gets dished back to them.

It's not like you can't find out how much rep they have, even if it's turned off. Just PM Lanzman and he'll tell you.

Edited, just for the fun of seeing if the principle makes any sense.

That would make sense, but as has been pointed out, all they have to do it turn their rep on momentarily, rep away, then turn it back off. For the system to work, it would be necessary to have some kind of a hack that doesn't allow you to rep for the first 24 hours after you turn it back on, for example.

Thus, your idea is good, but extremely difficult to implement in any meaningful way.
