So let me get this straight... They want the US to extend tax cuts to all of the top 5% of wage earners so that they can create jobs, but when a bill is put before them that specifically encourages hiring and directly stimulative towards small business, they vote it down? At least they didn't filibuster it this time, so I guess that's progress.

If it had been tax breaks alone, Skin wouldn't have understood. But the loans part... not sure on that one. Someone explain how the loans would have worked, because there must have been something objectionable in the loan terms.

How many WFers have tried to get a loan in the past year and been denied? Have any friends that have been denied?

You're buying the political games being played here? Congress spent close to $1 trillion on a so-called stimulus program that did little or nothing for anyone except stimulus program sign painters and you really want to blast the Republicans for pointing out that $30 billion and a puny tax credit is a lame attempt to show the voters how much the Democrats "care" about small business?

Heck. Everyone knows the Dems offer way more to their constituents when they're attempting to buy their votes.

And, the debate about extending the tax cuts isn't about creating jobs. It's about killing existing jobs. You want new jobs? Tell Congress to come up with a meaningful package of tax cuts and credits to encourage spending rather than punish employers.

My wife and I just refinanced our mortgage at a more favorable rate. No hay problema, tho we did have to wait for certain numbers to align themselves properly before it made sense to proceed.

Republicans block small business tax breaks!!
And a 30 billion dollar loan program.

This is a pretty good illustration of why I hate politics and political commentary. Fucking bullshitters can't help to massage the presentation of facts in a way that minimizes the details that are inconvenient to the author's bias, while emphasizing only what he imagines will advance their "team's" cause by making the other guys look bad.

Yes, what's done is done. And yet, the prevailing theory is that "liberals" are against small business.

Translation: "Let me get this straight, after all this time Republicans still don't know their place and don't roll over and accept any old ass-fucking the Democrats see fit to dish out under the cover of good legislation? Who do they think they are? We won bitches!! Know your role!"

    That about sum it up?

So this is like the "Fair Business Act" or the "Anti Dog Eat Dog Act"? Or the "Healthcare Reform Act"? If you slap a benevolent-sounding name on it that doesn't necessarily mean it is actually good for the alleged purpose, and I think the only people who get scammed by such a blatant ploy these days are "New York Times" readers. :cylon:

    We have a winner!

$30B is chump change (for *all* the small businesses in America?) and is only there for that purpose - to make the Republicans look like chumps for opposing their so-called generosity.

Oh, and for the record, I applied for my Obamabux homebuyer's credit in December of last year and to this day I have not seen a check, so you'll excuse my trust in government largesse. Were it not for the fact of my genetically superior intellect, I'd be seriously boned if I relied on the Government.

Does your state / county offer a homestead exemption? It wasn't that big a hassle here but it was one more bit to go through to get to keep more of our money.

It's threads like this that show how pathetic Alphaman is. I mean really Alphaman did your balls fall off?

"extend tax cuts to all of the top 5%"

No they want to extend the tax cuts to EVERYONE. Already proved this to you.

Why do you hate poor people Alphabitch? You know the ones who will have their 10% tax rate jump to 15% (a 50% increase) once the Bush tax cuts expire?

Why do you hate Senior Citizens who will watch their dividend tax go from 0% to 15%?

    Why Alpha? Why?

You're a pathetic man. No strike that. You don't even rate being called a man. A man would not keep lying when provided evidence that shows that man is wrong. A man who saw the proof that his favorite politican was lying would not ignore the exposers but would instead get mad at his favorite politican.

A man would show an ability to think.

You're not a man. You're just a cock-sucking drone for the Obama Administration.

Yeah. You can disagree with people without resorting to name-calling.

    Mostly. :calli:

And I'm assuming you're agreeing with me, Alpha, but pointing out the "Patriot Act". Because I don't think you'll find anywhere that I was thrilled with that particular law. Some aspects of it weren't terrible, but it was certainly not a great selling point for Bush.

Thankfully, once Obama was elected he quickly repealed the Patriot Act.

    Didn't he? :marathon:

When the other person refuses to accept that they are wrong when they are presented with copious amounts of evidence it's ok to call them names. And the evidence presented is not subjective. Letting the Bush tax cuts expire will RAISE EVERYONES TAXES. Not just the rich people.

I'm not the only one to have shown Alphaman that's he's wrong but Alphaman will listen to no one. To him Obama has cut 98% of the peoples taxes. That is just factually wrong.

I don't respond to Zombie's baiting anymore. When I do, feel like I'm as big of a retard as he is.

Nevermind the fact that expiration of the tax cuts in question are due to occur because the budget reconciliation process that put them in place limits the amount of time a piece of legislation can cause budget deficits... Nevermind that the top tax rate we're talking about will go from 34.5% to 39% for the top 5%... and nevermind that democrats in congress are trying to find a way to keep the tax cuts for 95% of Americans and avoid a filibuster.... Zombie keeps referring to an obtuse opinion piece from Investors Business Daily that assumed that the Obama Administration was going to raise taxes on everybody. It's just not true. They are looking to keep the child tax credit and I believe I heard Geitner on MTP this Sunday say that they want to keep the dividend taxes the same.

I guess I can only blame myself for getting too close to the monkey throwing poo around here.

... and for those who claim that a 4.5% increase in taxes on the nation's top wage earners will cripple a jobs recovery, consider this... When faced with the option of paying the IRS more or investing it in your business in the form of increased hiring or new equipment purchases, what do you think they will do? Both of those are tax deductible.
