I once saw the Weinermobile on the highway. We were driving down from Oregon to California and suddenly my friend goes "IT'S THE OSCAR MAYER WIENERMOBILE!" And sure enough, it was. PETA and the like hate the Wienermobile. Because it stands for delicious processed meat products and people love it despite their efforts to protest it. God bless you, Oscar Mayer. You have done so much for the world and are a true American hero.
Actually blame the Hot Dog bun makers for that. Carbohydrates, especially the white bread hot dog buns types are what makes you fat. The hot dog? Not so much. Although too many can be bad because of the nitrates in them.
Oscar Meyer hot dogs are the only ones I can half-way tolerate without drowning them off with chili. Those, and the kids' hot dogs they sell at Target.
All-beef franks are surprisingly healthy on their own. I once put myself on a diet where I replaced 10 meals a week with 2 hot dogs w/ buns and carrot sticks. I lost weight.
