Remember it was romans who ultimately killed jesus not the jews. So catholics stop blamign jews for jesus's death.
Gods plan was that Jesus would die, and therefore (for some reason) we would all be saved..... So it's gods fault
The Romans wouldn't have done it if not for the Jewish priests in Jerusalem stirring up a Jewish mob to pester the Roman governor into signing the death warrant. Nonetheless, those who hold this against Jews are idiots.
Kinda. The whole thing plays out as a statement against the idiocy and evil of humanity. Jesus could've played along, but he did nothing wrong. They had him killed anyway. That's the message here. It wasn't the Jews or the Romans, it was people, like you and me.
So, the message is "people are often horrible and shit happens..."? Obviously it was a wasted message, as people are just as bad now as then.
Yeah, the whole story reads more or less like an elaborate assisted suicide planned by the "victim" and his dad. Of course "Jesus died for your sins" plays better than "Jesus committed suicide but if you commit suicide you'll burn in hell forever," so scapegoats will always have to be found.
Mark 14:7 - "For the poor you have always with you: and whensoever you will, you may do them good" It doesn't matter to God. Doing the right thing is always the thing to do.
How do you pronounce the first word in the thread title? "Arrrrrr! Me ... me ... BEER!" is my nomination.
