There is a lot of ‘the Dems’ going around but it is important to keep some perspective. Every House Dem except @DEI Hire and @Diacanu’s boy voted against this. Over 3/4ths of Senate Dems voted against this. The issue isn’t ‘the Dems’. It is the (non-Murray) Dem Senate leadership. Which makes the job a lot easier. We don’t need to destroy and replace a party just most of the leadership of one house. That is very doable.
Schatz is the one person here I had legit believed in. I really want to hear how he rationalized this. Like, he's good on basically everything so where did this come from? Meanwhile
God damn it, AOC, stop making sense. I'm going to have to change my opinion about her before too long.
Sinema is so fucking naive. The only reason Republicans haven't abolished the filibuster yet is that they haven't run into a situation where it would be to their advantage. As soon as they do, it's gone.
People are paying attention to Trump, Musk, DOGE, and the daily shitstorm of violated norms. The average voter really doesn’t care about Chuck Schumer and a CR that funds the government until September. Save the shutdown for when they cut Medicaid, Medicare, and Social Security.
Yes, because you are myopically incapable of seeing beyond your own tiny little life. At least, until it affects you.
Just imagine if the USPS got affected in a shutdown. Sure, the lack of spam going into your mailbox would be nice, but... And while the USPS is largely insulated by shutdowns, what I can see is payroll getting hit. And if that happens, us carriers are going to be pissed.
if you had just stuck with 'failing' i coulda agreed with you but the 'to see' part got added......go weld something close to the ground
where do you get these presumptions of others? especially those who are (likely) making at least double your wages? (based on you saying you made less than $40K and the avg salary of an english prof in FLA being close to twice that). and you cry because others have taken to ripping on you for being general labour... grow up and shape up!
Doesn't matter how much you make if you're spending every dollar of it. If that doesn't apply to you, there's no reason to be butthurt about it. Speaking of staying in shape, door dash and mobility scooters won't work in the apocalypse.
so you're telling us that you have 20% plus of every nickel you've earned socked away/invested? your levels of projection here are stupefying...
So, clearly, you don't know how debt, at least when it comes to tangible like a car, a house, etc, actual works. I'm not surprised. But I expected about as much. Let me give you an important lesson that you will not learn: I bought my house five years ago with $70,000 down for $585,000. If I sold it today, low estimates are that I'd get $800,000 for it. On the low end. Before factoring in the new kitchen, upgraded attic, storm windows, and new garage door. So more realistic estimates put it at close to a million. Meaning if I sold today, I'd make between $350,000 to almost $600,000. Am I technically in debt because of my mortgage? Yes. But I could change that tomorrow. And then I could move into another house anywhere i want, because guess what? I can work anywhere as a teacher from middle school up through college. So I have job mobility. I can see why you'd struggle to understand that, as I imagine it would be almost impossible for you to leave Omaha. But those of us with good financial sense can actually use debt to our advantage.
Totally not deflecting with another rant about how great you think you are. All of that is a house of cards built on imaginary digital numbers that collapses with the economy, but I definitely encourage YOU to keep rolling the dice.
LOL whatever. In this imaginary economic collapse you pine for, your one bedroom goes bye bye too. People like you pray for a collapse because you think it's the only way you'll ever get ahead of where you are. Like the financial equivalent of kicking over the checkers board.
So I have started calling my senators every day at lunch. Apparently I’m not the only one as most days it either goes right to VM or rings out and then VM. Only gotten a staffer a couple times. Most recently Cantwell’s Seattle office yesterday and Murray’s Seattle office Tuesday but neither has a statement about their support of Schumer’s continued leadership. Used today’s news to be slightly dickish with my statement to my senators: Hello. I am Matthew Johnson living at [address] and have a question for Senator [X]. The Senior Senator from Colorado has had the courage to publicly state that the Senate needs leadership that recognizes the danger of Donald Trump and Elon Musk’s fascist takeover of the American government. Does Senator [X] share his concern? I would like a response at [phone number] or [email address] Thank you.
Murray again went right to VM. Got a human at Cantwell’s office. Still no statement on Schumer’s leadership but took my statement.
