Well yeah,. Looking at the comments I suspect a lot of these folks haven't seen it either and are praising what it represents to them Like/dislike aren't in the equation. True, I'm not particularly enthused by the "studio", but there's also that the "plot" is somehow both generic and basic revenge of the lion(ess) against the (derivative) hyaenas. Factor in that Carano can't act nearly as well as the scenery around her, and... anyways, here's one review praising the Christian values... (another reason I'm not likely to waste 90+ minutes of my life on it any more than you'll click and read the entire review) Oh, also noteworthy that DW is apparently pretty specific about being non union and all libertarian (I guess?) about their projects. That's a red flag that they likely didn't have proper/industry standard supervision with the animals on set. If it makes you feel any better, I'm not particularly interested in "The Woman King" either because from what I've read of the synopsis, it's total fantasy. (The actual Dahomey Amazons got slaughtered the few times they were in actual combat and I suspect their role in procuring slaves to be sold to europeans will be overlooked).

Fair enough. The Drinker did a review a while back that essentially said the same thing as those reviews. I haven't seen it on streaming and I have no intention of paying for it, but I'll watch it if I see it for free somewhere. As for The Woman King, I suspect it's a good movie. Lael Rockwell liked it. I agree though, I no longer have an interest in historical dramas if they're not going to make efforts to be as historically accurate as possible. Hollywood will praise the movie and it'll get awards.
