And yet rule 8 is about racism. It simply misnames the problem. As if what Faceman just did was fine as long as it isn't about race. As if we needed any additional rule to see that @Ramen's thread was unacceptable, and as if a misogynistic pic of a cruel rape equally directed at a board member would have been fine as long as it wasn't racist.

The rule is enumerated, and it's not just racism but dehumanization, which includes bigotry as well. That means gay people, Muslims, black people, etc. That rule now exists. It needed to exist.

Faceman is right. Rather than trying to completely change Wordforge into something it was explicitly created not to be it would be better for you to leave. Make your own safe space where you can act like a petty tyrant and censor people instead of trying to destroy a free speech zone.

@K. and @El Chup if either of you have the time would you mind rewriting the rules to convey what you'd each like. I think I understand what you are each getting at, but seeing them in rule form would make it easier to debate.

8. In General, Don't Be A Complete Asshole.

At WordForge, we value free expression; more so than most other sites. However, the aim here is to have open debates, and fun. The aim is not to figure out a way to break the site or its community beyond repair. Free speech is part of a triad of what we value, and depends on its other two parts: including individual members, and overall community. If your use of free speech interferes with either of the other parts, there will be consequences, including but not limited to anything from warnings to temporary or even permanent bans. We trust our staff to make that call. If you feel that you do not know how to avoid being a complete asshole without a set of detailed instructions, this might not be the right site for you.

I like the new rules, but I think you could spell it out more clearly:

At WordForge, we pay lip service to freedom of expression, but reserve the right to silence views we don't like. Do not mistake our lip service as a position that tolerates free speech. Free speech is subordinate to our highest values: not offending us and controlling the narrative. If your use of free speech triggers us, there will be consequences.

Bracket it all you want, but you changed what I was saying to better fit your narrative, which is nothing new.
