Wow. I am just checking in after an absence but if the red room is being moderated (censored) then it is a big change for the worse that, in my opinion, defeats the purpose of the site. So, this looks like the path of the Trek BBS neutral zone. I don't really know who owns or administers the place now but do they understand where WF came from and why?
This place needs a WF founding document that starts by saying WF owners, admins and moderators shall make no rule to abridge the freedom speech in the red room.
There are other rooms for those who can't handle anything others can dish out. What is needed is a rule against whining about a post in the red room. It gets hot in a kitchen.

That would be gturner, who I still believe was rightfully permabanned, and whom I believe brought the board down and dragged it through the mud. He was a pied piper, who got people to listen to his music and follow along, whether to mimic him, or to engage him in endless discussions that not only went nowhere, but dragged in everyone else, too, whether they wanted it or not. He needed to go.

Respectfully disagree. He was an annoying spammer. Wordforge has survived dozens just like him without incident. He was not special.

Simply untrue. Many people got along just fine without getting dragged in unwittingly. I think I responded to him exactly once.

If you do not like a poster than put him on ignore but a forum which recently lost eight good posters over a stupid and unneeded rules change really shouldn't be banning willing posters due to popularity contests.

If they break the rules then ban them but stop trying to ban people who never broke any rules nor ever received an official warning. That was just a bitch move by a cunt who never should have been made a mod.

The internet changes every day. We become more and more connected via search engines (Google, primarily), as well as social media sites which dig their tendrils into everything as well. It's no more that you can say something stupid here and it stays here. What happens in Vegas no longer stays in Vegas but gets broadcasted to the public at large, and it never goes away. Gturner is more than a spammer, he's an instigator. His sole purpose is to disturb shit, and he did it quite well. That you see him as only a spammer shows how good of a job he did in that regard.

How many? Because in TNZ, every time he opened his mouth, posters couldn't resist. Threads were derailed because he would start something, and this being a message board, there are people who are going to fall for the bait every time, and even when we started telling everyone how it all worked, they did it anyway, because like Donald Trump and the news media, it didn't matter that he was clearly lying, and shit stirring, he was a curiosity they had to get involved with on some level. People love to be right. Nothing wrong with that in and of itself, but there are people who can't let it go when they're not seen as right (note I'm not saying "correct," I'm saying "right"). Gturner gave them a chance to think they could be right, even though all he was going to do was move on to another topic without the satisfaction of acknowledging lies or misstatements.

You'd have thought people would have learned, but they didn't. Instead, they followed him to a new thread, and engaged him there. Over and over and over again, and over and over again, those threads, the posts, all made their way out of Vegas. Some people aren't concerned with that, but I am. I was, anyway, when I was an Admin. I guess on some level I still want Wordforge to be seen as a good place, a good community. I'm kind of old fashioned, I believe reputation actually matters in places like these, something that sets us apart from the likes of Facebook and Twitter.

My disagreement is that Volpone posted the thread you referred to but he was not permabanned while we are discussing why GTurner got permabanned when he never broke the rules.

There is just a basic amount of fairness lacking in the mods arbitrary actions towards the man.
