Good point and part of the ‘shared life’ that I mentioned earlier. When you have a homogenous audience (especially old and white as in this case) it is much easier to ‘entertain’ them. There is a shared set of cultural references (television, music, events, etc) that the entire audience can connect with. Doesn’t matter if it is a middle aged white guy in Georgia, a middle aged white guy in Nebraska, a middle aged white guy in New York... Compare that to an older Black woman in Georgia, a middle aged white guy in California, a young Hispanic woman in Kansas, etc etc. Lot harder to make a joke all three will get.

P I listened to many, many hours of his show when I worked at a station that carried him and that is mostly what he did when he wasn't telling rich people that liberals want to punish them for having money and that smoking wasn't really dangerous.

I have. Basically constantly for around 15 years any time he was on and I had control of a radio. Rush's "humor" was always and only mean-spirited bullying, the sort only found funny by those who lack empathy for the target. Assholes, in other words. And yes, I found it funny. Then. Because I was an asshole. Ask anyone who interacted with "Shepard" (and if it still existed I could show you far worse on other message boards" I wasn't a conscious racist, but I was unconcerned with the issue and considered the discussion of it to be overblown and mostly unnecessary which has most of the same effect on the world. Trying to perpetuate the "lovable fuzzball" bullshit isn't convincing to anyone, it just soothes the conscious of fans who are just barely aware enough of his offenses to feel a little guilty about enjoying them, but unwilling to appear "woke" by calling them what they were.

As a general principle, individual outliers aside... The Democratic Party is the party for people who recognize that our society is a collective endevour and the only way it works is if we care about people other than ourselves, even (sometimes especially) those unlike ourselves. The Republican Party is the party of those who hold that vested self interest is the only legitimate noble motivation for any choice. If you can't convince that a policy is in my best interest, particularly in that it makes my piece of pie larger than the piece others got, then I'm not interested in it. And likewise it embodies resentment of any policy that seems to place the interest of others at par with or above my own. Any answer OF gives you is likely to fall within that latter description.
why do I dislike liberals? Rather than broad brush specific liberals (since liberalism is so varied and multifaceted) it would be more fair to list the character traits shared by most (but not all) liberals. It has always been a part of their humor. It was a huge part of the humor in baseketball. I have grown to appreciate it less and less, but they did can some of their earlier jokes better. I have to somewhat agree with their points on Timmy when they introduced him. Mr slave and big gay al had their own nuance of respect. They really have not produced a trans character with that level of respect, which is a bit unfortunate. That is a lacking that has turned me off a bit. They never address the trans issue with a character that has some pride in being trans. Even Mr. Garrison was walked back in a way that says trans people are just confused. I will agree this is a weakness in their humor. It seems like a lot of the people they rag on have gotten an episode where they fight back and get the better of the idiots. Still, I just don't get the same amount of laughs even from their old humor. I remember seeing baseketball in the theaters and I could not order food two hours later because we were sill laughing so hard at the jokes. The humor does not hold up like a spaceballs or dodgeball does. Orgasmo might do better, but I haven't even had the urge to revisit that.

I am goind to disagree to an extent here. There is a smaller section of less important dittoheads on the left. The left has it's zealots who are told what to think by popular influencers. It is just not as big and organized a part of the left as it is on the right. It does not reach up to a level that rush attained power over the right. It is there, and they do try to wield that power. It is a section of anon that spun off in the scientology wars. They use trollish doxxing and viral harassing as a way to harass people they do not like offline.
Are you casting that stone in a thread about Rush Limbauh dying? Rush's whole career and power was based on preaching and using that power to influence the right hate machine. I get there are liberals out there who try and use the same powers rush does, but none of them have the power over the left that rush held over the right. If you want to use whataboutism here it shows a huge example of how the left is world's better than the right because there is no person they walk that lock step with. They even defy the corporate powerhouse more than the right does. The comparison ahows the left is far better than the right. It is more like there is no need to get into specifics in a liberal and freedom minded area. Anti-abortion is fascist. Pro-choice does not require government or political involvement except to stop people from interfering with choice. Racism requires effort to keep people down. (Along with anti-lgbt issues) Letting consenting adults do their thing does not require any effort. Yes, it seems bland, but it allows a huge amount of diversity. If you likened it to a buffet the republican buffet would be like a golden coral. A democrat buffet would have well prepared chinese food, mexican, japanese hibachi and sushi, middle eastern dishes with curry and lamb, and probably some corned beef and cabbage. It would be huge and awesome. The republicans are the golden coral, which has some good things, but the dems are the choices of food in a decent city. It only seems bland because you are a picky and small eater who does not want much aside from meat and potatoes.
Those things do not concern liberals except when they cause a danger to their freedoms or existence. It is not imprtant to me that someone is having an abortion. I do not want to punish them for having sex. I do not want to force them to have children. The only thing that is important to me are stopping bullies from imposing christian sharia law on them. As for the gun issue that is a damaging weapon without much use outside of killing people. So I want some real regulation over it and to stop people from carrying one around everywhere. I do not want people carrying swords and large knives around with them into family friendly places either. I go to anime cons where live steel is prohibited, and the coolness of having people show off their big replicas of anime weapons lost it's luster when people were getting into fights with them and accidentally running into other people in crowded areas. I do not want people to not own them, but take them to your rooms because people with them are fucking disrespectful, inconsiderate morons. You make these things issues with your obnoxious behavior.
