The thing about Lizzo and the Crystal Flute isn’t that they let Lizzo play the thing, it’s that they let ANYONE play it. A one of a kind artifact that has to be incredibly fragile . . .
I wouldn’t let Lizzo anywhere near my flute.
What would lizzo be doing trying to molest you of all people in homeroom?
Are there any people who are trying to play your flute? Like ever.
That is not what your trump buddies are saying at all. Believe me, none of them would be complaining if Donald Trump Band Camped the flute for fun. You are such a liar.
Instruments are supposed to be played.
Many of the instruments in the LOC's collection were donated on the condition that they still get played from time to time, and the LOC even has a concert series devoted to doing just that.
Remember when Dr. Oz sold those powdered milkshakes with lead in 'em?
I sure do.
How do you even get lead into a milkshake by accident?
You've gotta work at that.
The point of it is to be played - that's why it's in the Library of Congress, and not a museum - and she's one of the best flautists of our time. Who else are they going to have play it? Particularly who else could draw such attention to the fact that the Library of Congress even has it? It's not like they let just any pop star do it.
First of all, Jethro Tull isn't a person. I assume you mean Ian Anderson.
Second, color me shocked that you'd prefer a white dude playing it.
Third, Jethro Tull's best work is 40 years in the past. They had plenty of good songs, but they are simply not as culturally relevant today as Lizzo is, and to far fewer people.
This was the question posed:
I stand by my statement, but of course you had to play the race card. Jethro Tull (the band, I know Ian Anderson is the lead. I’m talking about the whole band) would draw a huge crowd, plenty of boomers and Gen Xers like their music.
Sure, plenty of people like Jethro Tull. (Especially older, whiter people, i.e. the demographic that pops a blood vessel whenever their tastes and preferences aren't centered in absolutely everything 100% of the time.)
A lot more people like Lizzo. Especially younger people.
Oh, and this is the United States Library of Congress. Not to go all nativist or anything, but Lizzo is American.
*Bailey* Who said anything about Lizzo not being an American?
Nobody. But the fact that she is American is yet another thing that makes her make more sense than an old white dude imported from Britain.
The reason why DeSantis had to go to texass to find people to ship up to martha's vinyard is because all the hispanics here in the duh are already hard at work cleaning up rich white communities like his. If you took the local hispanics away who would trim the bushes and manicure the golf courses down here? He would be pulled out of office and made to apologize if the twigs were not cleaned up on the 15th fairway after the hurricane came through. A fucking tornado came through kings point and destroyed the old people's homes, but the fucking golf course was open on wednesday. The condos along the fairway were condemned but the golfers were able to walk inside and look at the damage while they played. I am not actually joking, I went over to see. Kings Point is where Mike Pence showed up during the pandemic. It is second to the villages, and it isn't even the rich golf course.
yea. ok. whatever.
It's pretty funny seeing all these dudes getting bent out of shape about a flute they never knew existed until the other day
Like, this is what you spend your time on?
Don't you know? Crystal rots!
