I wouldn't want to disrespect the Nova Scotians and Brunsickwickians that much... But yes, you can have Montana, Wyoming, Washington, Oregon, California, and Idaho. Unfortunately, you'd have to take Idaho.

I see three acceptable outcomes of a balkanization, actually:
1. Pacifica - California, Oregon, Washington (and probably Nevada, let's be honest).
2. Canada takes aforementioned.
3. Mexico takes aforementioned. Not ideal, but can't be worse than current shenanigans, and las Californias finally get reunited...

Mexico can have California. Otherwise all of Canada would move there in the first week (Except for Quebecers, who'd head for Florida) and there'd be no one left to close the place at night. Which one is Idaho again? We'll take the top half, but Mexico has to deal with northern Nevada. That square thing is for republican refugees though... ain't nobody wants wyoming.
