I didn't even bother to vote.

Remember, Missouri is Bible Belt. Santorum's invasion of the bedroom platform generally plays well to that crowd. I'm surprised at Minnesota though--thought they were more liberal than that. I'll bet the GOP caucuses there had all of a dozen people....

Don't worry, Vandy. Romney will get the nomination and he almost, but not quite, sucks as bad as Black Jesus.

Yeah, because I'd much rather be saying "Really? Really? Romney?"

By the time Romney's done, America will be as sick of conservatism as it is of capitalism, without having actually tried either.

How about zombie Barry Goldwater? Because I just stumbled across a couple of quotes of his that would get me to vote for him, if for no other reason than to try and cut the legs out of the nutters of the party.
This is the guy who said we should nuke Vietnam, and fer chrissakes, he's more reasonable and intelligent than the current crop of GOP candidates.

Can you link me to the original source on that? I'd be interested in reading more about it. :D

    RE Missouri-

It's a beauty contest, no-binding, and Santorum was the only one that even tried there; Gingrich isn't on the ballot there so all the "anti-Romney-but-not-Paul" vote goes to Ricky.

    It's a completely useless gesture.

The only mild surprise to me is that with Pawlenty having endorsed Romeny he didn't have a delegation out for the caucus.

but even with that said, caucuses are a real poor indicator of momentum.

It looks like the GOP elite attacks on Gingrich have worked and Santorum is back to being the not-Romney again.

If this keeps up we could be on our way to a brokered convention.

I'm writing in something clever that's for sure. But if Rick Santorum does somehow get the Republican nomination, I'm straight up voting for Obama.

In which case JEB Bush gets nominated.

Seriously. It has been suggested by GOP pundits as a possibility.

Sure the Bush name might be a drag. But not nearly as much as four years ago.

He has a Hispanic wife. Add a black running mate and he'll be on his way.

Identity politics. Still a staggerng influence in the good ole USA.

You chuckle for some obscure reason.

You do realize that Bush was governor of the vital state of Florida for 8 years and was widely considered to be one of the best governors in the United States.

There won't be a brokered convention.

Every time the nomination fight goes beyond, say, one primary past New Hampshire, the pundits start talking about brokered conventions. The last time it happened? 1952.

It's partly wishful thinking on the pundits' part, because it would give them six more months of work and something new to talk about for a change.

To have a truly brokered convention you would need to have

    1) Three major candidates with distinctly regional appeals who simply could not win states out of their regions.

    2) Three major candidates none of whom have sufficient money to run in every state thus conceding states to each of their rivals.

Romney, for better or worse gets nominated.

Conservatives need to just man up and concede that they won't be getting an "ideal" conservative (if such a person even exists).

I've said it before, and I'll say it again.

Anyone who votes for any Republican or Democratic candidate is voting for the destruction of this country! Period! I don't give a fuck who they are, if they are a member of either party they will continue to fuck everything and everyone else over. The two-party system is a failed system that needs to be eliminated, and we can do it in November by refusing to support it any longer.

If you truly want to fix America, you will vote third party or Independent. We need to strip away the power from these huge, self-serving political parties and give power back to the people.
