I used to be DarthMacCartney on TBBS back in the day (and before that I was DarthSinatra!), but I thought that was too fanboyish-sounding and I changed it sometime in, IIRC, 2006. I was working on a project called 'Paladin' and I was aware of (though not really well-acquainted with) the old Richard Boone TV series. I thought it was a cool name, so I took it as a screen name.
Also, Brian Garfield wrote a thriller called Paladin that featured as the eponymous character Winston Churchill's private hit man and fixer, one of the highlights of which was a kill of a German agent who'd discovered a misinformation plot that could turn the tide (or help bolster the credibility of a British misinformation plot, I forget), and one of the lowpoints of which was to destroy a US submarine (IIRC) that was about to warn US of Pearl Harbor, to make certain the US would join the war in full earnest. My memories a real haze because I read in 70s, but it was a lot of fun, and a great character. Plus the whole Lawful Good image fits your character pretty well whether or not you've ever D&D'd.
At trekbbs I decided I wanted a good sci-fi themed username that would be easily recognizable as such by sci-fi fans but would be a little unusual at the same time. Creideiki was already taken. A quick search reveals that I've already written a limerick here about this. The Creideiki account also appears to no longer exist at trekbbs, so but for an accident of timing that's probably who I'd be here.
my original name on here was happiebunnie1313. I had a thing for that happy bunny character by jim benton when i was younger so i made it my screenname for various things. changing the spelling up a little... people called me bunnie on here so eventually it stuck. even in real life in some cases. lol
That was one of the first X-Files episodes I ever watched. Eventually I went back and watched the whole series (seasons 1-7). This was my second user name at TrekBBS. My first user name was actually my real life name, but I quickly decided to change it to something less identifiable. So I've had this user name since 2001 and have used it on various other boards I've signed up on. Except, of course, the forums at the official Robotech website. There are already a couple Robotech Masters (or variations of that) over there... Who are the Robotech Masters, you ask? http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Robotech_Masters They aren't even really my favorite characters from the show, but I thought the name sounded cool (I was like 20 at the time). I've thought about changing my user name over the years, but there really is no point. And I'd never be able to decide on anything anyways.
In the Adventures of Han Solo story 'Han Solo and the Lost Treasure', Chewie is at a day spa and to pick up chicks he claims to be Captain of the Falcon. So Han calls him 'Captain Chewbacca'. I liked that.
Ramen noodle soup was as much a staple to my college life as potatoes are to the Irish and cocks are to liberal men. So, my TBBS name was Ramennoodlesoup. Ramen during the Great Exodus to here. That, and my gamer name of Captain Bad Ass seemed inappropriate in discussion forums.
Bickendan actually hails from the Bakerloo Line of London's Underground, so I've used the name for about 11 years now (it's been that long since I've been in Europe? Dammit ). Since I love drawing maps, I created a city with a subway system... and misspelled 'Bakerloo' as 'Bickerloo' ('Picadilly' didn't suffer that fate!). The name stuck for the city, and eventually evolved to 'Bickendan' as I began to create the culture and language for this city. And it fits well as my handle.
Like what? Mine is a real-life nickname bestowed upon my by an old Navy buddy. It's a play on my last name.
still working on it. I never had a real nickname so .... I was just wondering if it could be done and what hoops you'd have me leap through.
I was enlisted for 5+ years and it always pissed me off that there was little to no representation of the enlisted ranks in Star Trek.
Mine was a Thrash Metal band called "Full Blown Aids". That was after we had learned how to play the instruments. My screen name is the German word for war, combined with my birth year; the year the war started.....my war.
It's from a line in Star Trek: First Contact. But with a 2. Because O2C is a better abbreviation than OTC.
All through school, I had an addiction to Coke and Diet Coke that would be sated by two-liters. I blamed the aspartame for poor memory, insanity, and eventually my diagnosis with ADD. Also, because it pisses off linguists when I mispronounce "Lee-thee" as "Lathe".
Recorded in '83, released in '84. I was released in '81, pre-dating the musical masterpiece you referenced.
Nothing fancy really, just a reference to my being the last male in my bloodline and was affectionately called this by my Father. Also a reference to a functional idiot in the Rooster Teeth Halo series of which I find funny. Kind of a dual thing. My first one here, Wayno, was tagged on me years ago by some friends and family. Bueno Wayno would have probably have pissed off somebody since my Capper handle apparently ruffled some feathers. Caboose is only used here, I have different ones for other places I frequent.
