Anyone else getting really fed up with products that have absolutely nothing to do with a film trying to piggyback on them? If I see the Quantum of Solace add for Coke Zero one more time, I'm going to throw something at the screen - can anyone, in their wildest sleep-deprived/drug-induced fantasies imagine Bond drinking Coke of any stripe?
Let's be fair though. The Bond franchise is no stranger to commercialization. There was about a 20 minute bit of "Casino Royale" that was blatant product placement. If I dug up the reviews I could get the details, but it was like, where he went to the Caribbean and he flew there on United, looked at his Rolex Submariner before getting on his Nokia phone to call up Avis and pick up his Ford rental car. And if you want to get technical, that was kind of a crutch Ian Fleming used in the books--to show Bond had expensive tastes he'd rattle off the brands of the stuff Bond used.
I think its OK to advertise those things you might see in a Monte Carlo casino... It kinda fits. But for fucks sake not Coke or Ford or any shite like that
