The prequel to Serenity was really good. Actually, the comic book format is closer to the movies than prose is - it's all about the visuals and the dialog.
What's wrong with comics? If the story is solid, does it really matter what medium it comes in? You guys watch movies, and you guys read books. Comics are sort of a cross between the two, so I don't understand why people have problems with it.
I enjoyed the story of Those Left Behind. I enjoyed the quality of the artwork. But there was some worthy stuff in there. Like Book driving the monster truck. Or the Blue Handed Men suddenly being incredibly ripped and wearing blue leotards under their suits. Or the generic BIGASS SCREEN telling The Operative to begin his mission. In other words, I liked the story and the artistic ability, but I didn't like the style of the artwork - it seemed far too cliched to me. It just screamed "This is a comic book" to me.
