These will now be found in a sub-forum of the Help Desk called, amazingly enough, "Shelter Releases".

Please do me a favor, don't post in there just like the other forum was. I think I have the permissions right, but if I'm wrong Order2Chaos will have to close the forum for posting, and in the meantime it would be awesome if you guys leave it be...I really appreciate it.

I can't post in any of those threads nor can I make new threads.

    I tried.

    Awesome...thank you.

FAQ is just on the top bar now.

Announcements....old posts are in the Help Desk.

So whole Headlines section is gone.

I think the front page looks much sleeker now and postcounts do look higher this way.

I doubt Lanzman would approve, you demagogue.

I guess without something above the Red Room...WF feels just a little naked.

I'll wait until he speaks for himself, thank you.

And no...I don't think listening to what the membership wants is a bad thing. If what is asked for isn't feaseable or rational or there is good reason to do it another way...then the better way will be retained.

It is when you are doing the bidding of Lanz, not the membership.

This stuff has been discussed for months. If he had wanted it done, he would have done it.

He gave the board to you to care for it, not strategically plan.

^ Can't disagree with that. I'mn really not convinced that the bill payer has any clue that stuff is being messed around with on here.

He told me to do whatever I wanted except for some specific instructions. He even mentioned that in the announcement.

But do keep trying to imply you know more about what Lanzman wanted than Lanzman himself when he discussed it with me.

    Ask him.

I'm sure he still reads e-mail.

Again, it would be damn stupid to make all this work for myself if I didn't have permission to begin with. What would be the point?

    Reading my mind...

It looked a bit...off or unbalanced so I did add an introduce yourself forum. We can always get rid of it later if it doesn't work or a better idea comes up.

It just looked too weird jumping right into the color rooms.

Having the Red Room at the top is a good thing.

Putting a dead forum above it would not. Remember the Embassy?

He left a few days ago and I think he said he'll be gone until after Christmas. About two months or so.

Just enough time to effect complete change.

What about simply having an "introduce yourself" thread in it's own forum just above the Red Room? Just about every other board out there has one. Unlike the Red Room it would have Gree Room rules so that people aren't hounded and flamed the second the introduce themselves.

    Er, yeah.

I have to agree. Making significant changes to the board while you're a caretaker for that length of time probably isn't on.

    He gave me permission.

Honestly people...I have never touched anything about the nuts and bolts in all the years I've been here without owner permission...why would I do it now? Really stupid if he's going to come back, hate my guts and then tear apart everything I've worked on.

Does that make a lick of sense?

Because he's not here to tell you no, and the chances are when he comes back he'll still not have piles of time to undo everything you've done.

I don't think anyone is adverse to change. But there are a good few members here who haven't felt you are fit to be admin for a long time, and are therefore concerned about the changes you may implement without Lanzman being around to reign you in.

You've got to admit, the sudden push for change just days after he's gone doesn't exactly look convincing does it? You're setting up threads pretending to ask people's opinions, yet you wait to about two responses and then implement a change. To a lot of people that comes across as you using Lanz's absense as a way to mould WF into your ideal version of the board. However, your ideal version may not be everyone's.

What is your objective? Self interest, the board you want to see and "internet power"? Or are you more concerned with making a board that existing members would like to see, combined with a recruitment drive? If the latter then you are going way too fast IMO.

Speaking of the Introduce Yourself forum...I encourage everyone to make a thread introducing yourself to the board again. That way it won't be an empty forum and besides it will be fun to read your intros.

Keep it civil. No trolling of flaming or spamming in there, please. Be nice to the new people.

Lanzman was/is change adverse and busy. So far all of the changes are ones he had agreed to, said he would get around to implementing over some holiday weekend, then when he didn't have time just let it go.

Honestly he's been kinda a absentee landlord for a while now. I am glad to see someone else taking some initiative to try and slow/reverse our slide into stagnation.

Well, with all this change being proposed and implemented, you can blame me for that. As for internet power, once new members have been recruited, we have a healthy population of new and/or returning members, and WF's stagnation has stopped or been reversed, I'll gladly step down as admin and be a regular poster again.

I think this problem stems from how busy Lanzman's life is, and maybe a bit of lost passion for this place. People can and do lose their motivation sometimes, and Tamar bringing me on was to try and bring in new ideas and streamline things a little better.

Lanzman's last message to Tamar was pretty much "I don't care what you do anymore, just don't do x and y and z". (paraphrasing) At this point, I think a few people are more concerned about Tamar being in charge than any of the changes taking place, and there is nothing that can be done about that. Really, his last message was pretty much a 'I am so sick of this shit and need to take a break so you run it and do whatever you want' message. I'm really not sure if he'll ever want to come back to the same thing. Hopefully when he does, he'll see this place improved and want to stick around.

In the spirit of this thread I'm going to give an early Shelter release so that people can see the situation exactly as stated.
