good point.....if the smelly kid is a recent immigrant and their culture does not place much emphasis on hygiene, or if the kid has some rare affliction in which their body produces a weird chemical smell, or if the kid is a mummy and/or zombie, then do not shoot them. Wow I would make a great judge!
Yeah, you're right. No point in cutting the social misfits off at the knees by stopping them from being social misfits in the first place. Best to let kids continue to be cliquish little jerks and just ban guns.
Call me an optimist, but I believe we can solve a problem/better a situation and not infringe upon any preexisting rights in the process. We can and should "do good deeds" like including outsiders and trying to help them get through life. We can (need to!) improve upon the systems in place to intervene in potential ticking time-bombs going off. We need to build, not tear down. Banning guns is just grabbing the low hanging fruit and will solve nothing in the long run. We have a two-party system, let's use it! Both sides have their approaches and goals. Thus nobody will ever be 100 percent satisfied and that's actually a good thing. Compromise might limit what each party would consider "success" but at least as a nation we are doing something - trying something - making some kind of progress that we can evaluate and adjust and improve upon besides just fighting each other which solves nothing. Just my two cents!
When an issue is framed as involving "rights" compromise is far, far more difficult to achieve. Its easy to suggest a "compromise" on gun rights if you don't possess a firearm and have no desire to. Would you be willing to accept a compromise on gay rights? Abortion rights?
I'm not surprised you see a comparison where none exists. No straight marriage has ever been hurt by a gay relationship.* No one has every miscarried a wanted baby because some poor college terminated her ill timed one. But countless people do die because others are ill suited to have weapons and what few safeguards we have are scattershot at best. The Texas church shooter should been in the civilian no buy database. Nikolas Cruz has gotten as much police attention as a black kid smoking pot in front of a Klan meeting. The Fort Lauderdale shooter had been all but begging for help but the law as written tied their hands from keeping him any longer than 3 days. Of all the mass murders in the last twenty years, he's the only one I believe was genuinely mentally ill and not an entitled bitch baby who's pissed that he can't get laid. *Well, besides Lauren Morelli, who didn't know she was gay until in her 30s, which I'm still :/ about
Yeah, don't you just love getting anti-bullying messages from the side that called misfit kids "special little snowflakes", up until....5 fucking seconds ago?? Boy, I sure do. Threaten their precious guns, then all of a sudden they turn into clones of Mister fucking Rogers. Shit, next we've got to find a way to convince the homophobic ones that gay wedding cakes save guns somehow. Who knows, we might actually have these pricks acting like proper humans by the 22nd century. Maybe this is how we got society fixed by the time of Star Trek.
since a total gun ban/confiscation is mathematically impossible as well as unconstitutional let's focus on keeping guns out of the hands of crazy people. We all know several recent examples of human error/incompetence/indifference allowing the red flag wavers to slip through the cracks. Fixing that will never be 100 percent but a gun confiscation will never be close to 100 percent. If all the "law abiding gun owners" turn theirs in, the criminals who need them in their line of work surely won't - they have no reservations about breaking the law since breaking the law is their job description after all. Think a hard-core criminal won't hesitate to sell a gun to a crazy? They sell drugs to kids and pimp out underage girls so I'm going to go out on a limb and say it is a distinct possibility. There are hundreds of millions of guns floating around in the US. That supply will never be completely exhausted. It would be like The Walking Dead in that they never seem to run out of gas for their vehicles. Darrell never runs out of bolts (arrows) for his crossbow - which cannot be made out of wood BTW - modern crossbows are insanely powerful and need carbon fiber bolts. Anyway, you get the idea - the guns will never, ever disappear and more can be brought in from other parts of the world if supplies do run low. But fixing the procedures that keep crazies from shooting up the joint can indeed be fixed but it won't be easy & it won't be 100 percent. Any thoughts?
https://www.congress.gov/resources/display/content/The Federalist Papers#TheFederalistPapers-29 TL;DR, but Alexander Hamilton agrees with me. Figures it took a bullet to silence him.
Why don't you just tell us what you think Hamilton agrees with you on? BTW, I have my own Federalist Papers ammo (pun intended) that I can use, but I'll wait to see if you can make a valid point or not.
Oh, okay. You're incapable of understanding this particular paper because it says what you don't want it to say, which is this: "Well-regulated" means organized, disciplined, trained, and reporting to a state governing body. Not a bunch of Cliven Bundys running around playing tough guy...until they run out of beef jerky. So, stop bullshitting and soldier up.
That's what you're going on about? We've been over well regulated a billion times, what's your point?
Wrong, I’ve backed up everything I’ve said with legit sources. You on the other hand use hyperbole and straw men with nothing to back up your claims.
Fantasy @Diacanu , okay. Posts 28, 44, 78, 151 and 152 of this thread, for the umpteenth time. Cited and sourced. https://wordforge.net/index.php?threads/leftforge-doesnt-understand-the-second-amendment.107376/

please tell me how the NRA is fighting law enforcement & schools & mental health facilities inputting information into the (already established) background check data base. Demonstrate how they impeded their efforts. I'm seriously curious as to how they stopped FBI agent Tom Smith from doing his job, or Army Captain Bill Johnson from doing his job. Connect the dots for me if you will.
