In three weeks I'm going to the toy store, on official business, with the Department's Federal Excise Tax Exemption paperwork. The "official" shopping list is: 2,500 rounds of .40S&W 155gr Federal HST 5,000 rounds of .40S&W 155gr American Eagle GI Ball Practice Ammo 1,000 rounds of .45ACP 230gr +P Federal HST 1,000 rounds of .45ACP 230gr American Eagle GI Ball Practice Ammo 1,000 rounds of 12ga. Federal Tactical 00 Buckshot 5,000 rounds of .223Rem 55gr Federal TRU BTHP I've been given direct permission to buy anything else I want, using my own private funds, so long as it's for use at work. So, the "unofficial" shopping list is, to date: 500 rounds of .45ACP 230gr +P Federal HST 500 rounds of .45ACP 230gr American Eagle GI Ball Practice Ammo 500 rounds of .40S&W 155gr Federal HST 500 rounds of .40S&W 155gr American Eagle GI Ball Practice Ammo 1,000 rounds of .223Rem 55gr Federal TRU BTHP 200 rounds of 12ga. Federal Tactical 00 Buckshot 200 rounds of .38 Special 147gr +P+ Federal Hydra-Shok Mind you, that will be split between me and another officer that's pitching in his own money. Now, the rest of it is my funds, just for me. 1 new can of MkIII-size OC 1 Streamlight TLR-1 light 1 Safariland paddle holster for Glock 21 w/light. 1 Bianchi ankle rig for Glock 36 (the old one is worn out). 1 Bushmaster "Texas" Carbine What's missing?
^ If only he hadn't splurged on a new server, Elwood might have been able to just scrape by enough private funds for a new Super Cobra. Alas, for the good of Wordforge, the sacrifice was made.
While not nearly so impressive a shopping list, I made a run to Wal*Mart the other night: 500 rounds of 9mm 200 rounds of .45 ACP 100 rounds of .40 S&W 100 rounds of 12 gauge birdshot 15 rounds of 12 gauge 00 buckshot Just to stick in my safe and forget about, mainly. Next up: .44 Magnum .308 Winchester .223 Remington 7.62 x 39mm Russian .30-'06
I want one of these. Ammo has gotten so fuckin' expensive lately! I went and bought fourty rounds of 230 grain Speer Gold Dot for my .45, and cost a little over sixty bucks!!! It wasn't that long ago that 100 rounds of Winchester White Box .45 was eighteen bucks and some change. Now what is it...twenty-six?
None of the LE-only dealers in Alabama carry Hornady. Some deal about Hornady being an ass about something or another.
Well, if you ever come across any Hornady 75gn 5.56 TAP with the T2 bullet, please let me know. It's hard for us unwashed civvies to get that stuff, and I would looove to get some.
Actually most of mine say that since I bought 'em post ban. But, it has much more to do with Federal Cartridge Company's policy. There are certain rounds that they require their dealers to hold from the general population. Nothing illegal about owning them, mind you. It's just that they, as a company, decided to not offer certain rounds for sale to the general public. This has angered a lot of people in the general shooting public, so Federal gets some occasional bad press off of it.
Erm...got 'em already. Got at least nine for every handgun (I bet I've collected 30+ 8-round 1911 mags over the years) and at least 12 for every rifle.
I have a similar ratio (15/rifle, IIRC) of AK magazines, not counting 75rd drums (only one of those for each rifle, IIRC), but need to get some more AR-15 magazines. I think I have 10 or 11 of those for each rifle. I've got a big 20mm ammo can that's filled to the top with AK magazines.
Yep, makes a great cleaning kit. Towel and rags in the center. All my other shit at the top and bottom. [edit] The other day when I was dropping off Anne at the airport I was getting her bag out and saw my cleaning kit. I quickly realized a big black box with a huge orange "EXPLOSIVES" label on the front probably wasn't the best thing to have sitting on my back seat. It gone thrown on the floor real quick.
I've considered buying some surplus ones, but never got around to it. They look really useful. Off topic, but years ago on a range, I'd gone off into the treeline to take a dump and found a bunch of linked 25mm that someone had left out (it was in boxes, but some of the lids were open). I considered taking a round, but didn't really have a place to safely hide it.
