I have a bit of a problem with Tamar's post in this thread. Now, you and I know Zodiac is a troll, but he raises an interesting point in his initial post so how is being told to PM Elwood a solution if the orginal post specifically details frustration over not receiving replies from Elwood. Furthermore, wouldn't a discussion of this issue or response from the top be of interest to the general and not just Zodiac?

Zodiac doesn't mention not receiving a reply from Elwood.

He mentions only that a banned members e-mails have gone unanswered.

Tamar is telling Zodiac to PM Elwood about the banned member instead of starting an HD thread.

If Elwood is not responding to email then what's the point of closing the thread and telling the poster to email/PM Elwood?

Just so you guys know, it's been known that darthsickle apparently likes to play little games where he will tell people he emailed so-and-so about his ban, and actually never did. That way he can gloat about not being "treated fair" and start a shitstorm.

I have been told this happens at other sites too.

Before you defend him, make sure that he has, in fact, actually emailed Elwood.

How? Ask him? He'll say yes. Thus we're left w/ credibility. And on the internet...that's all their is.

The fact is, Zodiac did not PM the staff member first...Elwood...to ask his question before starting the thread on it. The fact also is, when it comes to people returning from a ban, only Elwood can do anything about it. His is the final appeal.

DarthSikle is over there threatening to send in his "dual army", talking shit about WF all over the place. Zodiac only started his thread because Darth asked him to...not because he gives a damn about WF.

Even so...when I closed the thread, I PMed Elwood myself, letting him know Darth wants to discuss his ban and claims to have been e-mailing him and he may have problems with his e-mail. I have never known Elwood to ignore his e-mails at all, let alone people asking about their bans.

The reason we have the steps...contact privately and then a thread is that 99% of the time it can be resolved faster by going to the source staff member than starting a thread on it. I know when I come online and have a PM, I deal with them first, before anything else. I'll get to the Help Desk...eventually. And in this particular case, a thread does very little good as the only person who can do anything is Elwood...it is his decision alone and as owner it is understandable that he has the final choice of who comes and goes on his property.

Okay...let's look at credibility.

I do agree though that leaving a banned member hanging is kinda a shite thing to do, regardless of who he is.

But in this case, I'm going to reserve judgment until something has been confirmed. Especially since this guy has been known to have email 'issues' in the past.

I do not give a fuck about your selective PM policy, nor does it apply here. I asked a legitimate question regarding the WF policy. If Elwood doesn't respond to his e-mails, then including that possibility in the last line of communication and redemption should be at best reconsidered.

Elwood has quite a bit to learn about running Wordforge.

Considering Elwood even responds to those who have actually tried to get the board shut down when they ask to come back, I'd say the likelihood of darthsikle actually having emailed him is between slim and none if he hasn't responded.

OTOH, I haven't seen him around much recently. Could just be busy IRL.

It is entirely possible that he's making things up regarding Elwood's lack of response.

Lover of Purple, admin at a site which DS is currenty permabanned from for trolling it into the ground (ExIsle) came in and verfied that when DS said he's e-mailed, he has in fact e-mailed. Mind you, LOP and DS aren't exactly BFFs.

Now, DS might be playing his games. However, you guys (the Wordforge staff) are making it an a-fucking-mazing mess of it all by yourselves. You give him conflicting directions, then ban him before he has a chance to respond. And then you tell him to e-mail the owner, who doesn't respond (for whatever reason). Hell, one could argue that he isn't doing much himself, you guys are doing it all by yourselves.
