No, just about anyone with a high school vocabulary would say "virtual." "Metaphorical" doesn't work here. "Smoke and mirrors" does work though. How about a historical analogy? Trump's wall is his Maginot Line. Yes I'm a snob and my farts don't smell. I also know when a con is a con.

^You contending for the Packard award?

Or perhaps you would call a stretch of sensor-beams technology a "wall."

Anyway, don't think the border wall is as critical a bright-line test with Trump voters as leftforge apparently does.

    June 16, 2015:
“I will build a great wall ― and nobody builds walls better than me, believe me ― and I’ll build them very inexpensively. I will build a great, great wall on our southern border, and I will make Mexico pay for that wall. Mark my words.”

November 13, 2016: A fence is okay too. Trump appears on 60 Minutes after his Electoral College victory and suddenly the impenetrable, 30 foot high wall becomes a “fence.”

STAHL (60 Minutes): You’re— you know, they are talking about a fence in the Republican Congress, would you accept a fence? TRUMP: For certain areas I would, but certain areas, a wall is more appropriate. I’m very good at this, it’s called construction...there could be some fencing.

    January 11, 2017:
“I want to get the wall started. I don’t want to wait a year and a half until I make my deal with Mexico. They will reimburse us for the cost of the wall, whether it’s a tax or whether it’s a payment. Probably less likely that it’s a payment.”

^These are pre-Inaugural. With the first, he wasn't even running yet. Plenty more post-Inaugural.

@Tuttle will now blame the media for misquoting His Boy Donnie.

For the knuckle dragging mouth breathers (his base) "Build that wall! (and make Mexico pay for it)" was front and center for a year. That and "Lock her up!"

I would not call a stretch of sensor-beams technology a "wall." If that's what you're getting after having been sold "wall" I'd say you've been had.

Now if he had used "wall" as metaphor for increasing border protection at airports, seaports, coastline and enforcing visas we might have something. If "wall" were a metaphor for preventing businesses from hiring illegal immigrants through penalties and fines against the hiring entities, we might have something.

As it is, Trump, is giving lip service to his base that he's got their backs in the rising flood of cheap labor when he's really just pissing down their backs while telling them it's raining (ooo a metaphor!).

Earth's weather modification net can be adjusted to whip up some handy tsunamis.

Unless the Q intervene. They did nullify the weather net to create those tornados in Kansas.

In my experience, the vast majority of people from whom you get your information (i.e. the bubble left) look down upon people from 'flyover' country, don't associate with any of them, don't even know anyone that voted Trump (or at least who admit to it), rely on or prepare polls that consistently misstate opinion, and are ill-suited to accurately predict. Not particularly confidence inspiring, even if you're among those few liberal fair-minded observers with any kind of open mind.

So your claim is that Donnie never said any of the things about The Wall that he's on record as having said? You want to claim all those campaign and post-campaign speeches were dubbed? Do it. :bailey:

I was once a liberal. I lived in NY until I was 48, surrounded by liberals. I was a lawyer for 20 years in NY and hung out with and conversed with many libs.

You won't accurately tag me with any label aside from pro-growth or 'conservative.' Certainly it's bad data to infer anything from me re Trump supporters - that's a pretty gross error on your part.

I've found few libs that exhibit any open-mindedness or receptivity to ideas outside their dogma. : (

Whatever. Never liked him personally, approve of the same 65% to 70% of his promised policies that I've always liked.

Disapprove of e.g. his Clintonesque policies on immigration re Mexico, and agree somewhat with his Obamaesque policies on immigration vis the 'no fly' Islamic states. In fact, aside from comments about disliking the packaging, loving the message, approving of SCOTUS picks, I've said precious little about Trump one way or the other aside from pro-growth pro-growth pro-growth.

Nothing has changed, couldn't have a lower estimation of the man personally or higher appreciation of the deconstruction of the Obama regulatory state.

I would take President Trump critics a lot more seriously if they didn't start stupid threads like this and treated the president with more respect (don't give a damn whether its earned or not) and less disdain.

    And avoid personal attacks.

I would have to hear a valid reason to respect Donald Trump to actually do so. I've yet to see one. The right likes to throw the label 'community organizer' at Obama like it's some sort of bad thing. It's also one more public service that Trump has certainly ever provided. The guy's been out for himself and stiffing contractors since Day 1, and these are supposed to be 'admirable qualities'?

I've never claimed President Trump had any "admirable qualities". But I think by virtue of being the president of the United States and being the choice of more than 50 million American voters makes him worthy of at least a degree of respect or at least courtesy.

And yet, you don't think that the racist memes about Obama as President were damaging to the office.
Funny that. So, calling Trump "President Tiny Hands" is bad, but Obama as a chimp is just fine. Do I have that right?

I've never claimed any such things said about President Obama was just fine. While I no doubt did not condemn all of it (my mistake) I'm pretty certain I condemned a lot of it.
