Maine has just appealed a federal ruling. In it a third party sued Maine for denying them access to the state voter registration. Maine law states that such information can only be distributed to political parties and groups active in 'get out the vote' campaigns.

The federal court ruled that not only does the National Voter Registration Act supersedes Maine law, but that Maine can not charge any fees for the data, and that it can in no way limit the USE of the data, including the personal details of the voters in question.

If the fascists take power they will have your voter data. Sleep well.

You must be a straight white cisgendered male. Welcome to america. This sort of info is readily handed out about women, blacks, people descended from immigrants, and GLBT people. We told you they were eventually going to demand to know what you are doing, but you thought they were never going to put you on a list unless you broke a law and were arrested.

Looks like you are a dumb fuck. We warned you, but you were too busy asking for women to show their genitals to an inspector before playing a sport. Seems like you got off easy since no one is asking to look at your mangina to see if you really have a dick. Maybe next time you don't start demanding everyone submit their info to pedofiles looking to verify if you have the right genitals and focus on your damned self. Since you are a supporter of everyone else having to be monitored for your safety by the fascist right wing, you get what you deserve.

I’m not sure I see the issue here.

As long as how people voted aren’t public (which this wouldn’t touch) what is the harm?

In Washington this has been public information for decades. Polling companies use it for determining likely voters (a 7/7 voter - voted in last 7 elections - is much more likely to be polled).

Also it provides an easy counter to claims of voter fraud.
