I didn’t realize we were speaking in imaginary terms. I just made a statement about real world actions/activities, rules, etc.
I'm just here with the popcorn watching UA lecture a woman how he requires more proof before accepting that many female dress requirements are overly-sexualized.
That was never the question. The question is what team is subject to those requirements as an official rule. Not a custom, not encouraged by sponsors. Required. So far nobody can provide it. I supplied the one and only example myself. If it's just "social pressure", it's nothing.
Riding your bike on the shoulder of the Interstate would solve that right quick as you panic sweat it all off

The Australian is where Murdoch dumps the content too blatantly racist for Fox News and can get in the bin.
Aren't the Olympics supposed to encourage peace, harmony, understanding, a reaching out across borders to find common purpose in celebrating our shared hope for a better future? Like Eurovision. And the X Men.
Wut This is telling you to root for them to win, much like people wanted the Saints to win after Hurricane Katrina. Sports are presented as a healing, positive thing that will save you from feeling hopeless about the miserable world outside. Completely pointless except for its relevance to another country, got it. Ruuude.
The Simone Biles story is pretty popular right now on conservative media. And the consensus seems to be she is a quitter from a generation of quitters. The entire US is now a joke, so throw in the towel. I’m supposed to believe one of the most dominant countries in the history of sport is now filled with quitters. Sure. The silver lining is that Suni Lee stepped up and won gold. She becomes the story and most likely the new face of US Gymnastics.
Guarantee you that if Simone was a white girl instead of Black the "outrage" would be nonexistent. Great article I read this morning: Simone Biles was abandoned by American Olympic officials, and the torment hasn’t stopped
I have read a good explanation as to why Simone felt she had to quit*, but honestly, I don't give a shit as to what her reason was. Everyone should have the right to say "Non serviam" if by doing so doesn't put the lives of others at risk. Literally nothing about her job (or the majority of other jobs) are worth risking life and limb over, and she was definitely at risk of that had she continued to try and perform. *She has what isn't terribly uncommon amongst gymnasts (and I would assume other athletes) what is called "the twirlies." Essentially, she's lost the muscle memory for how to do her routines. Imagine, if you will, that you're someone who knows how to drive a stick shift very well. You've done it for years, and don't have to think about when you need to shift gears in response to how you're driving. Now, imagine that you're suddenly thrown into the toughest driving course imaginable and you've "forgotten" how to drive a stick shift. You understand what a stick shift is, that you need to take your foot off the gas, and put your foot on the clutch when you need to change gears, but all the other shit that you've picked up over years, you know, the engine sounds, if you're going up a hill or down a hill, if you're towing a load, or if you're in a sports car, is all gone. So, you have to really think about each and everything that you do. Make a mistake, and you could be seriously injured or killed. So, I don't think that one could blame such a person for saying, "Fuck that." and walking away.
Calling a World and Olympic champion, many times over, and someone who literally rewrote the book on the sport a quitter is really something. Especially when you’ve never accomplished anything remotely close to what Biles has accomplished And that’s not even mentioning what this poor girl went through during the Larry Nassar debacle And these people call themselves patriots! The whole thing is pretty disgusting tbh
I think the short original explanation of mental issues confused a certain amount of people into thinking she was just quitting because of just stress. I had never heard of the twisties being a thing for gymnasts, but that explanation makes sense, and yes you do not want a person up there if they experience that. In the end this is really just another nationalistic load of crap from a bunch of couch losers. Let us remember they think glorious leader orange cheeto man is a great golfer who does 18 holes in 2 strokes, and who are terrified of getting an injection and wearing a mask. The authorities should just set up a trap on this girls phone and send any of the people making death threats to prison where they belong.
The whole suggestion that a person who has the drive and dedication to get into the olympics is somehow just flippantly deciding not to compete because of some trivial issue is absurd. These are the most competitive and dedicated people in the world. She did not come to the decision lightly. I would be amazed if she did not have some sort of emotional breakdown over it that we never saw. She would have had so many days of not feeling well, injuries, and pain that she worked through. No Olympian just abandons their place without tearing themselves apart. Her place on the team was hers to give up. It was not the place of any fan. None of the complainers did the work for her, and none of them even contributed slightly to any wins or losses of the US. Her teammates have their right to be bothered, but the couch potato who is angered does not. The talking heads at faux outrage are the worse. Who the fuck are people like Hannity, Owens, and Carlson to even make a comment? They are not even good at their jobs with crews of people trying to make them look good.
China's leaders have been crushing dissent for thousands of years. Why would they stop now? The ancient Olympics were just as political as the modern games. Stopping wars while the games were being held is just as much a political statement as anything else. The modern games had their share of politics from the get-go, but after '36 and the Cold War whatever purpose they might have served have been buried in a tsunami of corruption, greed and political maneuvering. I still watch some events, but I won't shed a tear if they just fucking go away...
Yep. And I read that Biles couldn't take her ADHD medicine into the country because of Japan's insanely strict drug laws. That she was able to compete as long as she did is a miracle. Most of the 1996 Dream Team took severe injuries that forced them into retirement after those games, particularly that one who broke her leg on the vault and the other who took injuries on the beam. All of them have come out in support of Biles' saying no more when they did not and could not.
