Not so fast.... https://www.cbr.com/disney-fox-deal-reportedly-dead/ Although (and they say this in the article too), that the talks between Marvel and Sony were dead at one point too, so don't give up hope.
No They've got their own little movieverse going, they can stay over there MCU doesn't need another five hundred characters cluttering it up
Interesting that this story comes out shortly after one of Fox's investors was arrested. Not saying that this is the reason why Disney and Fox in were in talks, just wondering if this is why we're hearing about the deal.
If I were The Grand Architect, I'd let Fox-Marvel stay as it is, and let them keep making their X-verse movies as they are, especially the R rated ones, BUT I would insist on one co-produced crossover with six all-stars characters just to establish the multiverse. BUT, I would put Fantastic Four into the MCU. They're the first Marvel superheroes, they need to be there.
A properly made Fantastic Four movie (with a more faithful version of Doom in it) would be absolutely epic. The thing to remember about the FF is that they're not a team, they're a family. Different dynamic and when done correctly it hits you right in the feels.
#1 At what point are the feds going to step in to stop didney from eating up every other entertainment company? #2 The MCU is just the right size and complexity, throwing the X-men in and mutants in general would juts be nuts. #3 A fantastic 4 movie, to be good, would require an absolutely perfect writing team and cast. The 4 just don't translate too well outside the printed page.
Y'know what's funny? In the 80's, Marvel was at its artistic and financial peak, and Disney was in the shitter with "Black Cauldron", "Tron", and "The Black Hole", and Marvel almost bought Disney. The only thing that stopped it wasn't money, they could afford it, the magazine conglomerate morons who owned Marvel at the time didn't know anything about the movie business, and didn't want to learn. Um, dummies, you can hire people that know things you don't. Marvel had the chance to buy DC at one point too. The alternate timelines that could have been!
Looks like a done deal. The Phase 4 ship has probably already sailed, but I'm guessing Phase 5 will include the X-Men and the FF! I'm hoping for a future Avengers film with Hugh Jackman as Wolverine. He's apparently open to the possibility.
Doesn't have to be a whole "Avengers vs X-Men!!!!", right away. They could get the ball rolling by slipping Hugh Jackman as Wolverine into Avengers 4 the way they slipped Spider-Man into "Civil War". I dunno, either with the infinity stones, or the dimension machine from Fan4stic. Either way. And they don't have to add new movies to the phase 4 slate. Just sprinkle a Deadpool here, a Quicksilver there, a Magneto there into existing planned things. It's totally doable.
I think since Avengers 4 is already under way, it's too late to reasonably shoehorn Jackman in. If he's not set up in Avengers 3 then any significant appearance in 4 (which, IIRC, although no longer called Infinity War II, is still a direct follow-on to 3) would seem like it's outta nowhere. Presumably, the next phase will have different Avengers: Dr. Strange, Captain Marvel, Ant-Man, Black Panther, Wasp, etc. Maybe they could do a "mutant arc" where the Avengers are pulled into fighting mutants--maybe that's what the post-Sokovia UN/governments of the world want--and this brings them into conflict with Logan. 2-3 phases later this could culiminate with X-Men and Avengers teaming up against a common threat. Deadpool? Definitely. Quicksilver's a bit of a problem, because the MCU already had a Pietro Maximoff, and he's quite dead. And Michael Fassbender back as Magneto? Always. The big bad for the next wave should be, of course, DOCTOR DOOM (maybe in concert with Galactus, or some other hugely powerful antagonist).
No, I wouldn't think so. Fox, as a film company, is going to be completely subsumed by Disney. I do love that Fox fanfare, though. I'll forever associate it with Star Wars.
