It won’t be no candy land, but it definitely is starting to look like a monopoly. Unfortunately that’s the game of life. I just wish Fox wasn’t in so much jeopardy. With all these cable companies fighting though, it’s like some kind of family feud. Hopefully though they’ll eventually make a love connection. I guess it’s a risk they had to take.
Disney/Fox jut got anti-trust approval. Almost there.... http://www.darkhorizons.com/disney-scores-approval-to-acquire-fox/
Oh, for chrissakes, now some Fox shareholders are trying to throw peanut butter in the gears with a bullshit lawsuit. https://www.cbr.com/fox-disney-merger-shareholder-lawsuit/
Well, there's no official confirmation yet, but Forbes is reporting from inside sources that Comcast may be bowing out of the bidding war, and they want to focus on getting Sky network, which is the piece of the pie they wanted all along. The big Fox shareholders vote meeting happens on the 27th, we'll know more then.
Fox shareholders had their meeting, and approved the deal. A couple more government hurdles, but those are pretty much a formality. We're getting X-Men in the MCU.
Confirmation of what I suspected, Disney isn't going to kill any Fox movies, anything filmed or in production by the time the handover happens will be released. https://www.cbr.com/disney-release-completed-fox-films/
The deal could actually be completed by the end of this year! https://www.comicbookmovie.com/disn...-completed-as-soon-as-the-end-of-2018-a163905
Dammit, I want Jackman's Wolverine in an MCU film. And Ryan Reynolds' Deadpool. Probably won't happen (s'pose Deadpool could) but still.
Yep, the president of Fox says the deal will be all done by January 1st!! https://www.cbr.com/fox-disney-deal-close-january-2019/
Fox and Disney are starting to shuffle their slates around to get ready for the fusion, and it looks like the last X-Men movies, particularly Dark Phoenix, will be released under Disney. http://www.darkhorizons.com/disney-fox-begin-shuffling-their-slates/
Frankly? Brutally? If I were Disney, and I had the Dark Phoenix football, I'd shelve Fox's, and do it under MCU comic book accurate.
Nah, that's be ridiculously expensive, and I think Marvel's got a long way to go and a lot of pieces to arrange before they're ready to do a X-Men team movie, let alone an adaptation of Dark Phoenix. I think Marvel WILL eventually get there, but it's a decade down the line.
I’m not ready for a recast yet. They should give us some breathing room before diving into the X-Men.
For sure, Disney releases Dark Phoenix, and New Mutants is in post production, so that will likely be the final film of the Fox universe. Gambit won't happen. After New Mutants, the next X-Men film will be the first from the MCU; my money's on it being an all-new Wolverine, 2-3 years from now. I also expect the Deadpool movies to continue in one form or another. Imagine Avengers 5 with Deadpool, complete with fourth wall breaks.
Comicbookgirl19 said she thinks they should start with the classic 60's lineup, no Wolverine, and let everyone get Wolverine blue-balls for a couple years before finally introducing him. I like where her head's at, and if I were boss, I'd do it, but Wolverine is such guaranteed money, no way they'd do it.
I know this isn’t going to happen, but I kind of just want Avengers 4 to be it. No new lineup, just sequels to characters that haven’t gotten them yet and done. Tie everything up nice and neat and call it a day. How long can the MCU go on anyway?
I think the Jackman era means that, going forward, Wolverine is the central character of the franchise. Does it have to be that way? No, but the Wolverine character was the most compelling and enduring of the Fox films, so I see no reason to abandon a successful pattern. Yep, they've got a long view. Barring a total implosion of comic book movies--which could happen--there will still be Marvel films in 2028. Comic books are such an enormous mythology, and so practically limitless with material for stories, and so well-suited for big-budget VFX-heavy crowd-pleasing films, that movies based on them may well be a permanent genre.
The remnants of Fox after Disney gobbles up their Movie/TV assets will be...*drumroll* Fox. *Bored dry coughs in the back row* No word on what Disney is going to rename the studio and the channel.
Kevin Feige says the deal should be done by early 2019, and he'll start planning how to integrate the characters in the first half of 2019. https://www.superherohype.com/movies/431153-kevin-feige-teases-plans-for-foxs-marvel-characters
Given how they film scenes up till the release date as in the case of the Avengers swarma scene, I wonder if we might get some hint of mutants in Endgame as a post credits scene.
I don't think it could be done in a significant way. Marvel doesn't definitively have the rights to the characters, and Feige says they won't start working them in until first half of next year at best. That means no storylines created, no actors cast, etc.
They could tease it. They arguably teased mutation in Ant-Man and the Wasp. Janet mentions that she’s undergone an evolutionary change in the Quantum Realm.
In "no fucking duh!", news, it looks like Fox is scrapping all their in-development movies, including "Gambit", "Silver Surfer", and "Doctor Doom". No word on "X-Force", or "Deadpool 3". That "Multiple Man", movie with James Franco quietly faded away before this. http://www.darkhorizons.com/fox-scraps-its-marvel-films-in-development/
X-Force is officially dead. Rob Liefeld himself leaked it. Go right ahead, and assume Dark Phoenix, and New Mutants are the end of the Fox/X-Men-verse.
I think we'll have more Deadpool, and possibly more X-Force, too. Disney would be foolish to turn that cash cow off (or to create it anew in the MCU). But Dark Phoenix is the end of the line for Fox's X-Men. Sad, given that the original Fox X-Men film kicked off the modern superhero genre.
I just want to see Dark Phoenix, that’s the end of the Fox X-Men for me. It’s been a twenty year ride for this version of the X-Men and probably should have ended with Logan, but I need to finish this.
