It's quite common for the party that excises something bad to be blamed for what fills the void left behind when that something is less than desireable. Of course, if the thing that fills the void is desireable, that same party rarely gets the credit, because it surely would have happened eventually anyways

What nonsense. Of course, he's partially correct. The US has pursued much the same policies since the Cold War as during it, but with fewer "checks" on their power.
