That selects its own leadership, makes its own rules for membership (some are only sober folks, some only require you to want to be sober, some just to use less, some allow friends and family, etc. etc.) and even selects its own governance rules and documents (AA, NA, Refuge Recovery [Buddhist/Mindfulness], SMART Recovery [atheist] and a half million other groups that either align with larger groups or not) and that ANYONE can found a recovery group?

Heck you and I could found a recovery group right here, right now, LOL!

So since they hopefully explained all that to you since you weren’t there just to tick off attendance for your judge you know how stupid it would be for someone to claim that AA was an actual top down organization. That ‘AA said this’ or ‘AA did that’. Because you know that all AA is is just a collection of people organized into autonomous, self funded groups that share some but not all principles with other autonomous groups that sometimes put themselves under the same umbrella (AA, 12 Step, etc) but sometimes don’t.
