Best case scenario, it's awesome, and crushes. Worst case scenario, it's horrible, gets cancelled immediately, but the novel writers and comic writers play in that section of the universe, and make it better, and we still end up with some good Star Trek canon. Realistic scenario, it'll be somewhere on a spectrum in between those extremes.

Between Jason Isaacs and Shazad Latif (Tariq, lovely tragic Tariq in MI-5) I won't know where to look first. Okay, Latif's an infant, but he's so damn purdy. And they're both so good at what they do. Cue Lubak's "gross." As for James Frain...sorry, kid. There will ever and always be only one Sarek:
yeah, but on the other hand I can't think of another current actor who's even close to Leonard in appearance and acting style (of course, sometimes I can't figure out a casting until they announce it and I'm like "well duh") For example, I would have thought Mudd would be hard to cast but I can totally see Wilson pulling it off.
also, as much as they are working hard to focus on Burham, there's no way that Issacs doesn't get favorably compared to previous captains unless he turns out to be a psycho or something.
I'm thinking Georgiou eats it in the pilot, Lorca eats it in the finale, and Burnham is captain in season 2.
If he identifies with a female hero, his pee-pee will plop off, and then the bad kids will pick on him in the lunchroom.
I don't like women in Star Trek though I'm willing to tolerate some as supporting characters as a gesture toward inclusiveness. I thought you knew that.
Let me guess garamet. No matter what explanation I give you'll post "Why?" But I will tell you this as I've explained before: 1) I don't like being around women. 2) I don't believe in women serving in the military (and no matter how you try to wiggle out of it Starfleet is clearly a military organization). 3) I feel women are a distraction. For starters.
