I'm not going to bet on it being Mitchell just because I want it to be, and because it's so easy to write that story. I'm not a JJT basher, but I also don't anticipate them actually doing the story i'd like to see.

    Re: star trek:into darkness

It's hard to Google for, cuz it's just called "Star Trek", but here's the first collected volume that has the Mitchell stuff.

    http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/1613771509/ref=olp_product_details?ie=UTF8&me=&seller=

The Mitchell episode is actually kinda bland, it's virtually a reenactment of the TV episode, things don't get interesting until the timeline diverges more and more.

    Re: star trek:into darkness

Not really. I'll buy a three tickets to some chick flick my wife and daughter want to see. They can go see it and I'll see the latest Star Trek abomination so I can honestly give an informed opinion about it.

Of course, the Chick Flick in question will not be made by Paramount.

    Re: star trek:into darkness

When William Kennedy Smith was tried for rape, one of the people on the jury openly told the defense during jury selection that he thought that Smith was probably guilty .

If the new Star Trek movie turns out to be good or has good elements, I will say so.

So let me get this straight -- you are already convinced the new movie will be an "abomination", you are boycotting Paramount and refuse to give them a dime of your money to see not only the Trek film - but any other film they release, yet you are more than happy to "steal" a showing of the film simply to continue fueling your hate for all things modern Trek and give you ammunition to argue with anyone who has the audacity to actually like the film.

    You sir are psychotic.

I'll go see it in the theater up the street. Even if it's another stinker, I've been wanting to see whether I could get away with vaping in a theater anyway. How good the film is will guide how discreet I'll be about it. :)

    Re: star trek:into darkness

Actually neither. Lots of theatres don't give a flying rip about what movie you see (unless it is a premier night and is sold out).

A few years ago, my wife and I bought tickets to see "Man of the House" on our anniversary at a large Little Rock theatre. The only tickets we could get were for two hours later and we contemplated going somewhere and eating and coming back.

One of the managers heard us and told us "Just hang around here. Several other pictures are just starting. Go in and watch one of them while you wait".

Obviously having people hang around a long time and eating expensive drinks and snacks means much more to theatre management than who sees which movie.

Having permission from the manager to see a movie for free because he wanted you to stick around and spend money, is not the same thing as buying a ticket to one movie and going to another because you want to screw over Paramount.

One is a gift the other is theft and deception...neither very good Christian traits.

    Re: star trek:into darkness

I have some pretty definite thoughts on what Dayton's proposing, but you can guess what they are and I'd rather speculate on the baddie in the film instead.

My guess is that it's not going to be a callback to a prime universe villain at all. If it's not Gary Mitchell, and it's not Khan, I don't see anyone else from TOS being able to carry the story the synopsis suggests is in the offing.
